But you don't offer a player less than they're on No, you don't (if it's true)
-
We've already had players that only play for us because we're giving them a lot of money - that got us relegated. If he doesn't want to play for us, he doesn't want to play for us. if the only way we can persuade him otherwise is to offer him a lot of money, I'll pass.
-
£40k is a fair offer if he's earning less than that, otherwise it's fucking stupid. Who moves jobs in the same profession for less money? Some people do if the opportunities to progress are better. By that, I mean it's far more likely that a Chelsea/Liverpool/Man Utd will be more likely to want him if he's spent a year or two with us. Aye, we're a much better prospect than a team playing in the Champions League. Behave, man I didn't say that you pleb.

It's clear the offer isn't enough, but I doubt it's less than he's currently on. He's come out and said that to make us offer him more money, basically.

Yeah, what a world... a player turns down a transfer to an inferior club that would've paid him less money? THE CHEEK OF THE MAN. That's not what he or I was saying, you idiot.
-
CaulkinTheTimes George Caulkin We live in a world where 40k a week is "just ridiculous" - and ridiculous that it's not enough rather than too much. Extraordinary.

i respectfully disagree. it's more than a little short sighted to believe that because someone's paid well they should keep their opinions to themselves, and that goes for anyone not just footballers. I'm not sure about you but if I wanted a footballer to be a 'role model' which i'm not sure about anyway! Then I'd certainly want my kids to look up to the sort of person who speaks out on what they perceive as injustices or wrong doing, not the sort of person who takes the money and shuts up, that's an appalling example for any kid. Sportsmen? Noble purpose? What are you talking about? They're paid to play football, that's it. I think there are channels where unhappy players can vent their anger, but it shouldn't be on twitter or in the press. If you're unhappy, it should be discussed behind closed doors. absolutely. seems unlikely though doesnt it? the players will know as well as us it's pointless talking to pardew about it. So go above Pardew's head then. If I'm unhappy with something and my boss doesn't do anything to rectify it, I speak to his boss.

Our best player of last season isn't actually that good, despite showing more than Joey Barton has in his time here?
-
Nice fact statement. Alan Smith has 281 PL appearances. Should be our starter based on that fact.
-
Aye. It was a rhetorical question in response to SUPERTOON, but thanks He can, but I wouldn't say he's a natural winger and is better used in CM. Sounds like Barton to me.
-
Gosling can play on the right too, can't he?
-
Yes, you do know what position Barton plays for us don't you? Er aye, the right side of midfield. I'm sure Ben Arfa, Jonas and Marveaux could all play on the right side. Routledge gone is no big loss seaming as we were never going to play him and he's not goof enough for the Prem. He is a loss in terms of numbers but nothing else. I'm sad to see the back of Nolan but I'm sure with Cabaye and Ben Arfa we have cover for the "hole" Nolan spent most of his time in. Im sure they all could play there, im sure we could play any player there wether or not they are any good is a different question. Going into the season with no proven right midfielder is suicidal. I forgot the season starts tomorrow.

Joey7Barton Joseph Barton Just because ur told to jump, it does not necessarily mean u have to. I may choose to stand perfectly still. It's my right...just a thought He's stubborn, but he's fighting a losing battle.

You do realise that one of the pillars of his business plan is that no matter what shit he serves up, the fans keep on turning up season after season? Why do you think they did the 10-year season ticket? Altruism? Fine, boycott. Guaranteed it doesn't do anything.
-
Are people seriously suggesting this? It just means he'll sell more players to fund what he has to, and not buy anybody. The club loses if people 'boycott' or do anything stupid like that, not Mike Ashley.
-
We're buying young players so we can sell them at a profit in 2/3 years time. Perfect business strategy.

He was always away man, we can't keep a player that wants bigger and better things. Does that go the same for Carroll & Nolan too ? Carroll yes, Nolan no. Why not? he could have stayed but went for what was best for him 4 years on a cracking wage. Playing in the Championship is hardly 'bigger & better things' is it? Carroll and Enrique isn't money related (well, it is partly), whereas Nolan's was . True but for Nolan was more about better not bigger... wonder if Jose had been offered £&0k a week here he would have signed the contract? Guess we'll never know. Yeah, it certainly would have been interesting to see. My inkling is that he still would have gone, but with the friendships he's built here, if the offer was the same financially he could just as easily have stayed.
-
FWIW, players always move on. Arsenal would have lost Clichy, Fabregas and Nasri by the end of the window with Gervinho as the only replacement.
