    2006-07 season?

Generally considered to have been named overall winners of the Intertoto Cup in December of that season....thank you wikipedia!

  3. Hats off to him he has been excellent. Particularly love listening to him - he comes across as very humble and speaks with great knowledge of the game. Rarely for a manager he often tries to look at his/the teams failing first in defeat.

However, if he continues to persist with Ryan Taylor at left back and giving game time to the likes of Lovenkrands, Smith and Perch without it being an absolute necessity he could become the architect of his own downfall. Indeed keeping Raylor in at left back much longer could mean that our good start to the season will be quickly undone.

  4. Not overly concerned, he has done brilliantly but excited to see what Gosling or Abeid will offer. Certainly not as worrying as the injuries to the defence.

Thought exactly the same. About time the youngster get their chance to step up. Tiote will probably play from Swansea on till the ANC. I think our biggest trouble is still in the back. I think Cabaye can lead Abeid, Vukcic or Gosling in playing decent and I think all three have potential. However, if we lose Colo for longer, we're so fucked until January we won't know whats coming till we're hit by a huge fucking bus.

I hope so but there is nothing concrete to suggest that this will actually happen. Cabaye is also a booking away from a suspension meaning that we could be looking at a midfield two of Gosling - Abeid/Smith if he picks it up before Tiote is back.

  5. In some respects Gosling might actually be a better match with Cabaye than Guthrie given that he'll probably be tasked with the defensive work while Cabaye will get to roam forward again.

Beat me to it - we might see the creative side of Cabaye a bit more again, although Gosling does seem to enjoy getting into the opposition penalty box. Any more bad news and I say we just forfeit the match, take the 3-0 defeat that anyone who has ever played FIFA knows that this will incur and try to get people fit for Swansea.

  6. Should never have been reduced. Just because England have rocked up with an army of lawyers and witnesses talking about how he accepted the decision etc. doesn't change the fact that a red card for violent conduct is a three match ban, everyone knows that. If he didn't want to be banned for three games then he shouldn't have kicked someone. Pretty simple really.

  7. If fit .. I would be tempted to throw him in at centreback for the next coupl of games. Guthrie and Cabaye is working well enough and I think Tiote could do a very good job there.

Think he would be wasted there and also not sure he has the discipline to play there - not one for staying on his feet for example. I think he'd be much more of an asset to us doing what he does best than trying to shoehorn him into a position that is not natural for him.

  8. Can't see it being less than £25.

We sell tickets for league games cheaper than that.

    We do?

A quick check of nufc.co.uk shows that Gallowgate tickets for Swansea are £20.

That not the student price? It's showing as £20 for me but if I change the name to one of my mates who isn't a student it goes up to £25.

Would be great if they put the same prices in place for this one as they did the Arsenal Carling cup game. Cost me £12 to get into the platinum club.

  9. He was our best player for a long while.

    Eh?

    What? He was.

No he wasn't. He did OK by his standards.

Exactly he was alright going forward but didn't do anymore than the minimum you would expect from your left winger. Didn't offer anything defensively and had a tendency to go missing from the left hand side in the first half - although for all I know he could have been told to do so by AP.

I will concede that he was a little unlucky though - on another day he could have picked up a couple of assists - the through ball to Ba, the cross which Ba somehow managed to test Cech from and even the through ball that hit the back of Ben Arfa's heels.

  10. Don't think Pards will leave Obertan out - this is the kind of away game he seems to have been bought for.

The more pace we can get in the side the better - will mean that Norwich won't be able to commit too many going forward. Having Obertan, Ba, Ben Arfa and even Jonas there as attacking forces will hopefully help relieve the pressure on the defence. Would also like to see us follow Man City's example and leave a couple up from corners - Ben Arfa and Obertan for example - this will at least lead to a less crowded penalty area and force Norwich into leaving 3 back to defend.

  11. Not sure. I remember the forest game away in the championship where Simpson was awful at CB. I put Santon there just because of his height, but not really sure what the lesser of two evils would be.

Honestly believe our best available back four would be:

    Simpson - Perch - Kadar - Santon

However, there is not a cat in hells chance that we will see that.

  12. Ryan Taylor simply cannot play, never seen a player get "done" so many times in a game.

Problem is he will though. Hopefully won't get such a battering as Sturridge is an excellent player and Jonas will be back to cover his backside. Would still rather have Santon there but can't see it - when you are facing a defensive crisis then I suppose the least logical thing to do is drop another one of the back 4 that have been so successful to date.

That said wouldn't be surprised to see Santon play in a back four something like:

    Santon - Simpson - Perch - Raylor

3 full backs who are at best average premier league players and another who hasn't started a game in the prem yet...give me strength

Would be a real boost to get Tiote back for this one, then at least we would have a strong front 6. Would snap your hand off for a draw right now!
