  1. The Virgin logo will be on the shirts tonight providing the FA give us the nod.

Oi! Colocho! Do you post every rumour you read on here and pass it off as your own on Twitter!?

Was posted by the editor of the Echo ya goon.

  2. Hopefully this will result in a few more pennies in the transfers coffers although I won't hold my breath.

    As if. :yao:

"As you know, we had to buy brand new shirts for every single one of the players due to the new sponsor.  We also had to pay to have the old shirts disposed of.  These things all add up."

    :okay:

Virgin Money took over Northern Rock, right? And Northern Rock were paying us money... surely there won't be any 'new' funds?

  3. Was a matter of time until something like this happened, not as bad as his fall out with Deschamps, mind.

He should be one of the first names on the teamsheet. Don't blame him for being frustrated.

  4. Yeah, that's what I was told this morning. May be wires crossed but let's wait and see.

Putting passion aside, if I were about to embark of a huge marketing campaign to raise the brand awareness of a product and attach it to the city it resides in, I'd seriously consider it.

Cleverly placed story in the Journal this morning as well...

  5. Virgin Money chief executive Jayne-Anne Gadhia (20 November 2011).

“To be honest, I think it should be called St James’ Park.”

Asked whether it might be renamed the Virgin Money Arena, she said: “I don’t think that would be right for Newcastle.

“St James’ Park is part of the heritage of Newcastle and it’s important to local people, so for me it should be called St James’ Park.”

  6. THE boss of Virgin Money yesterday told the company’s new employees in the North East that they had the chance to transform the banking industry.

Chief executive Jayne-Anne Gadhia spent her first day at the former Northern Rock headquarters talking to staff about her ambitions for the business.

And she declared herself “genuinely delighted” by their response, saying the workforce was “engaged, welcoming, warm and excited about the future”.

  7. I'd imagine the kit sponsorship will be the same

Explains our new defender/£8m budget for Jan. Still no sign of the Carroll cash....  :hmm:

Link to a source suggesting we have £8m to spend this month?

  8. From 20 Nov:

The Virgin Money chief executive last week unveiled a £747m takeover of Newcastle sponsor Northern Rock.

The club’s stadium has been renamed the Sports Direct Arena by Mike Ashley, Newcastle United’s owner and founder of the sports retail chain, in preparation for a sale of the naming rights.

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Ms Gadhia says: “To be honest, I think it should be called St James’ Park.”

Asked whether it might be renamed the Virgin Money Arena, she said: “I don’t think that would be right for Newcastle.

“St James’ Park is part of the heritage of Newcastle and it’s important to local people, so for me it should be called St James’ Park.”

Northern Rock’s Newcastle sponsorship runs to the end of this season. Ms Gadhia said she would be talking to Newcastle United about Virgin Money might do after that.
