Tiote and Cabaye was the only midfield I really liked during the Ashley era.

I still feel pretty chilled tbh. We needed to make signings prior to our January league games and we did, with both of those players contributing to a far-from-disastrous haul of four points from six.
So we've earned ourselves the luxury of making more additions later in the window which, again, is far from being a major issue and is typical of this market in any case.
I've no problem with swerving on the likes of Carlos to retain a precedent of not being exploited. Nor do I have a problem with swerving on the likes of Coutinho, whose primary interest is a massively inflated wage bill and who would upset a fragile dressing room that cannot afford to become toxic if we're to survive.
Six days to chase down attainable targets and get them signed. It should be doable and they all count even if it's by teatime tonight or by midnight on the 31st. Let's save our rage for the morning after, if necessary.

VAR should be used to overturn egregious errors only. If it takes constantly rewinding to see some nuanced movement then it shouldn't be overturned. That mentality has hurt NFL and MLB, especially in the beginning

Did I read that Carlos was only being paid 975k per year and we offered to triple that?

Didn't they do exactly the same with Chelsea and Kounde?
That said it's far more likely journos are simply backtracking to preserve their reputation.
Luke Edwards has that covered!

DC has already agreed personal terms? We may not be spending much time on him at all. Here's our bid, take it or leave it. We've agreed terms with the player but we're looking elsewhere unless we hear from you.

Our CBs will look a lot better with a decent DM in front of them. It’s the highest priority for me. That and more goals. Striker/winger
No question. DM is my biggest concern. I hope they pull a rabbit out of the hat.

If so, I'd take Diop.

worrying.

I think we'd be better served if we can go more with loan with option to buy or just straight loan. CB and holding CM were musts and we've made no progress at all. I'd give Gomez a shout.
Still puzzled that attacking players (outside of Diego Carlos) have so much of our attention.
Should have moved on from Carlos 2 weeks ago.

I would be disappointed if we wind up with Tarkowski as our top CB purchase
I'd take Alli over Lingard
We need someone to boss the midfield

I hope you brought along a good ITK?

What alarms me the Most about this article is that nowhere does it mention midfield? Surely Howe can’t be happy with what he have. No way
Definitely agree on this. The lack of MF movement is puzzling.

Want to see these go down.

That little side pass to Willock was sublime. Willock didn't finish but still...
-
This was not an easy game to manage with guys getting hurt and cramping up. He kept the team focused and reminded them constantly to defend further up the pitch. Nice, nice win.
-
Still a player there, apparently Good shift. He can press. Has to learn to keep his head up when on the ball.
-
Much better 2nd half. He can't wait for the game to come to him, he has to go grab it.
-
I haven't been impressed. Will rejudge in 2-1/2 weeks.
-
Fraser and Miggy are two sides of the same coin.
-
Massive win. It was fun to watch them actively kill off the game actively rather than try to do it passively. Willock grew into the game. Longstaff was active and pressed well in key spots. Dubs had some nice saves and the entire defense worked together. Was s creaming at the TV when Shelvey started the free kick but the screaming tone changed pretty quickly
The type of win that will lift the club.

Fernandez isn’t fit as far as I’m aware.
Has to be Lascelles then which is scary.

4-4-1-1 play narrow and compact. Force everything out wide. Press in the MF and counter.

Meh, we had no PL quality striker and we had to overpay for Wood. He's a useful piece for the rest of the way and we can make something back on him in the summer.
