Towards the end of the 70s Chinny had Bob Wilson wìth him , just to give you the rest of that Saturday's news not covered by the games they had shown. Do you remember ITV getting the Saturday night spot for a couple of years circa 81-82 time.? MOTD just stopped until the Beeb won it back. And a year or so later we saw the first live League games sometimes a Friday night mainly Sunday afternoon, split between the two main channels. IIRC Spurs vs Forest was the first one ever and Spurs won 2-1 after going a goal behind. first ever live FA cup game ( other than final) was on a Friday night IIrc, any guesses where who? yeah remember footy disappearing off TV altogether for a while - thought it was later 80s tho. Us getting howked at Liverpool I reckon. aye, wagged school for it, got our coach window put out.

In the 70s and early 80s there was only one presenter, jimmy hill etc behind a plain desk and plain wall behind, the analysis was so stilted. wonder when it went down the chat show route possibly with Des Lynam the smooth bastard
-
Stick the nut on another presenter

he will say he is just concentrating on the game- with an obvious hint that hes not happy.

it used to remain open all season, until early March IIRc. never appeared to be an issue until they brought in windows. Clubs would often sign players after the March deadline as well, just they couldn't play until the following season.

I think he will stay no matter how slow , as far as he can see progress. But there will be a showdown if it becomes obvious to him we are standing still or going backwards.

agree to extent. the way the market is we cant buy the 10/10 players. I think Rafa wanted players around 6-7/10 and he can work with. Ashley wants to buy at the level of 1/10.

too lightweight. de Jong's physically better equipped to play as a 10 than Perez IMO. Think back to the last game against the Mackems - Kirchhoff bullied Perez in the centre, particularly when Perez received the ball with his back to goal. Rafa saw this, moved Perez wide and brought de Jong on to match Kirchhoff and we looked much better in the middle as a result. Ultimately it'll be horses for courses between the two I think - suspect that de Jong will work better with Gayle leading the line and Ayoze with Mitro. fair dos, think we need another option to come in but hey ho we will see about that. -

That wouldn't be legal would it? hypothetical, they would need a deal with sky. You mean the Premier League. It'd cost the club millions. Possibly hundreds of millions. well aye, but sky would be involved due to their rights, laugh it up anyway- bet it happens in the future. Would be the death of football as we know it. nah, happens all the time anyway- they will want to get something for it. Armchair fans like us today killing the atmospheres at games aye- but with the toon, there would always be 50k turning up, and tbh that 50k is only a small % of the clubs fans. Im almost certain it will be the norm within 5 years. -

Well BT's current deal is for 42 live matches - not much more than a full season for a single club. They paid nearly a billion pounds for their deal in total, or £320m a season. Might happen in future but it would take a fundamental overhaul of broadcasting rights. agree, but I just think its a matter of time, there is possibly 100,000s like me worldwide, who would pay for game by game coverage. -
