  1. I can't believe that moat hasn't got the money as they were all required to provide proof of funds..... I think he's more likely on a budget and wanting to get the club for about 80-90m with some funds for new players and the closer he has got to get to the 100m the less he has for players. Maybe? that sounds plausible like. just wish ashley sells up and pisses off now
  2. like a financially better off ameobi .... i do rate salgado though
  3. hehehe ^ i've got nowt against hull but i really can't stand phil brown liiiike an oraaaaange!
  4. i'm trying to not get excited, but maybe this might be the right rumour...
  5. The french fire engine. hehehe reeves & mortimer
  6. Drive?!?!!? We dont have a bus anymore. Ashley is making them cycle down. aye, 'if alan shearer can do it putting up with adrian chiles, then you lot can, call it team-building' is what i can imagine him saying
  7. well it's a canny drive down to the hawthorns... so the pre-match conference could be today instead of tomorrow
  8. On the cutting edge as per usual, Dave. If you like that, you might want to check out this other band called The Rolling Stones. They could be the next big thing. nah, i doubt they'll have the staying power
  9. I dont think the club ever said they rejected 10m? It wasn't an official announcement but SSN said the bid had been rejected as did just about every other news source. I'd trust them over Redknapp. They say a lot of things yup ... like saying we'd signed woodgate when we hadn't... etc
  10. He's a striker with pace and knows how to use it and he I didn't think he was that bad of a finisher. Playing him upfront with Andy is a miles and miles better than Andy and Shola, both because a) he's miles better than Shola and b) they should work better together. aye, would be sensible to give pete a ring like. i think carroll as a target man and lovenkrands playing off would work well as he can finish and gets into the right sort of positions
  11. aye, very true. they did kick on very well in his team. i remember smith going on a scoring run at the beginning of their champions league season, i'm sure he got something like 7 in 9 games or so. at the very least o'leary's saw alan smith score a goal for a team he was managing
  12. CL finish (and semi-final) with Leeds and top 6 with Villa... I think he inherited good players in both situations. As soon as he had to operate on a budget at Villa the team performances sunk like a stone. At Leeds, O'Leary inherited a great academy (with the likes of Kewell and Woodgate) rather than an overly strong squad I think. Yes, he wasn't initially responsible for this influx of talent, but O'Leary nonetheless deserves a bit of credit for bringing them into the first team and allowing them to grow as players. With the likes of Lua Lua, Ranger, Kadar and Vuckic in similar positions at the moment, they might be given more of a crack and add some much needed energy to the team. I wouldn't mind O'Leary as manager if I'm honest. His track record is fairly decent and he'll probably take the job regardless of the s*** we now find ourselves in. He is a complete w***** however, which may pose a slightly minor issue o'leary did do a decent job @ leeds to be fair to him, but he couldn't have done it without eddie gray, it was gray's youth team with the likes of kewell, woodgate, smith, robinson, harte that gave him the backbone of his team
  13. Venables won't come, but he's a far more qualified coach than the likes of O'Leary, Strachan, Coppell and other such losers mentioned so far. What did Venabls won? Nothing Starchen achivement at Celtic is better than Martin O'Neil and same moron people here were saying the same about MON few years back when I scream his appointment instead of Roeder. Learn about football ppls. venables won la liga with barca, and an fa cup with spurs, albeit a while ago.
  14. the sad thing is, it's more believable hearing kinnear's been offered a 2 year contract than it is keith harris possibly selling the club this month
  15. it really wouldn't surprise me, we hobble on with hughton for 3mth til jfk is fit
  16. i hear gordon strachan and gary mcallister are still out of work? though that said, they'd still be more mobile/able than our midfield
  17. He couldn't handle the pressure at Man City, losing in the play-offs with Reading was his limit- somehow I don't think he'd be able to handle the pressure and intensity that comes with the Newcastle United job... aye, that's a fair point. i forget he was @ man city for a while.
  18. joe kinnear, dave bassett, terry venables, steve coppell, david o'leary, john gregory not a great list like :-[ coppell might be a good shout though
  19. i doubt it, we'll be stuck with hughton I think it's now time for the question to be asked: "which would you prefer, Houghton or Kinnear?" i'd still rather have richard money promoted in all honesty, or even o'leary if he's llambo's best mate. at least money would have faith in the academy lads like lua lua, inman, danquah, ranger etc I'd settle for George Graham to be honest aye, so would i to be honest
  20. ah, 6 months, would just bring us to the end of the january window without signings too
  21. i doubt it, we'll be stuck with hughton I think it's now time for the question to be asked: "which would you prefer, Houghton or Kinnear?" i'd still rather have richard money promoted in all honesty, or even o'leary if he's llambo's best mate. at least money would have faith in the academy lads like lua lua, inman, danquah, ranger etc
  22. i doubt it, we'll be stuck with hughton
  23. bassong fined 2 weeks wages for not going to dundee... apparently http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/08/04/newcastle-united-fine-rebel-sebastien-bassong-72703-24310739/
  24. Funny how when we're linked with players from league 1, people assume they won't cut it at this level. When they're about to play against us, they're world beaters. orient gave us a pasting :-[
