MA: Who the hell is this guy?
DL: I dunno boss, I just thought he looked kinda pretty.
Guy on wall: ...

Mike: "Chips or pie, I really don't care. Just get me something, would you?"

Is Guthrie good enough?
Where is his best position? He doesnt have the pace to be a winger, but he have a good passing foot. As a central midfielder, he isnt good enough tracking back and tackling... Looking back at the game against Villa, he often let Edgar alone against 2-3 players by not tracking back.
For me Guthrie should be a backup player at most. I think we need wingers with pace in the championship, and big strong players in the central midfield.
I think he should be partnered by a DM like Butt.
He's got good vision and distribution, and isn't afraid to take a shot on.
I particularly recall I think it was the Hull game when he just evaded a sliding tackle with ease and drifted a pinpoint pass to Jonas on the other wing. Beautiful.
Guthrie's still young, I think in a few years he'll be decent Premier League material.

What real evidence is there that Shearer will be a bad manager?
That's all I see people asking.
Man United fans wanted Ferguson out at the start.
-
Shearer should be given at least two seasons (unless we're going to get relegated from the Championship).
We're in the second tier now, and we should take the time to properly rebuild. I genuinely believe Shearer can have the effect Keegan had, but no one could motivate the squad we have atm. Owen being Captain was just so symptomatic. Shearer's a not a fool, he will be able to assemble his own squad.
Let's see what he can do, and I mean two years. If I see steps forward, I'm happy. Even baby steps, so long as they keep going forward. Because we've been going back for five years now.

Was absolutely awful for first half hour today, then seemed to get his act together a little.

Exam in the morning. Saving it for tomorrow.

3k a week is a lot in the Championship.
No it isn't. Only for the clubs that have just come up from League 1.
Especially with our gate receipts.
I've said before, I'll instantly buy a season ticket whatever league we're in if we play good, exciting football.
I don't care if we're playing Barcelona or Barnett Green Athletic B Team, I'll come along if I'm entertained.
We need to play good football, and people will come, whatever league.
-
they will leave at slashed prices. there'll always be big sam to take these players in.
No they won't, no-one will touch them because they are championship players who ar enot good enough to play in the prem, as demonstrated.
Premiership players in a Championship team.
I think that's been our problem.

What team do you expect to see walk out in August, realistically?
Harper
Beye Kadar Taylor Enrique
Guthrie New CM Butt New LW
Carroll New CF
Wouldn't mind seeing Ranger, Krul and others being given a chance. We can blood these youngsters now against people who aren't playing Champions League football.
Guthrie and Enrique might not still be here, unfortunately.
-
Kuszczak
Neville Brown Ferdinand Fabio
Nani Fletcher Gibson Tosic
Macheda Welbeck
-
As expected. A piss take of a squad.

If you are at the match today and the worst does happen, please do yourself and your club a favour and make sure the Sky cameras don't catch you snivelling into your scarf or blubbering into your best mate's shoulder.
Show some dignity and don't bring this club into disrepute.
We suggest you turn your back and make a hasty retreat for the exits. Once outside, walk straight past reporters and cameras in the streets and maintain your silence until you are well away from prying lenses.
We will do our best to "out" anyone caught moist-eyed or slack-jawed on TV and shame them further....
We all care - that's why we're there - but we don't have to put on a public show of emotion that the press hounds will be all too eager to capture.
Shout hard, sing true and help our team prove everyone wrong.
Howay the lads.
That's a joke.

Krul said he would leave if both Given and Harper stay.
Krul has been on the bench consistently after weeks of tossing between Krul and Forster, so I imagine they've decided Krul is number 2.
Leaving because he's number two keeper is nonsense, since he's unproven and won't walk into a number 1 jersey in another club in the PL or CH.
-
Haven't seen him play that much but it seems there is a lot of people who talks well about the guy.
Anyone have an opinion about who's best between him and Krul?
Watched them both.
Krul, although Forster looks good too.
Don't see Harper lasting all that long in No. 1 with these two behind him.
Keep all three, for sure. When Harper leaves, let Forster and Krul battle it out, with Soderberg as 3rd keeper.
-
How many has he actually got this season? I'm sure we could count on one hand his goal tally. Good riddance to him when he goes. He showed against Middlesbrough that he clearly doesn't care anymore and is just going through the motions.
10 this season.
13 last season.

In University, in the college's Junior Common Room. 60" screen.

I'd love it to be Coloccini, by making some incredible last ditch tackles and then a winning header.
I expect it to be Martins, if anyone.
-
Assuming no doubts make it, this what we need:
Harper
Edgar S Taylor Colocinni Duff (ugh)
Guthrie Butt Jonas
Owen
Martins Viduka
Subs: Krul, R Taylor, Nolan, Donaldson, Xisco, Ranger, Ameobi
Donaldson?
Ahead of Lovenkrands too? Madness.
Forgot about Lovelyhands.
Woops.

If Enrique not fit:
Harper
Beye Taylor Coloccini Tozer
Guthrie Butt Smith Martins
Viduka Owen
Subs: Krul, Edgar, Carroll, Ranger, Lovenkrands, Jonas, Duff

After watching today, I cannot condone Duff at LB any longer. He was so horrifically poor. We've nothing to lose, we have to go for it, so bring in Tozer who's actually a LB.
Martins was creative today, but didn't get the ball enough, so involve him more on the left. Jonas was also poor and didn't really do anything for the team, so bench please.
Nolan: see Jonas. Smith will at least add a bit of fight.
Carroll on for Viduka at 55 if nothing's been achieved, Lovenkrands for Martins if/when he tires. Ranger for Owen.
-
Harper - 6
Beye - 6
Taylor - 8
Bassong - 5 (for red card)
Duff - 2 (worst I've ever seen him)
Jonas - 4
Butt - 6
Nolan - 4
Guthrie - 6 (Good set pieces again)
Viduka - 5 (Poor, should have had a goal allowed)
Martins - 6 (Better than most of the team, even when injured)
