The fans have a sense of what's needed, we knew that yesterday was a great chance to make a fresh start for the second half of the season and get the win.

I think expecting people to just constantly be loud is not going to happen, but hoping that people get behind the team at the key moments is probably more realistic.

not sure I agree. first half was good, because we were all over them and you could sense it was only a matter of time before we got a goal or two. second half things didn't get going until after we scored our second. I'd argue the start of the second half and after their goal were key moments, but the atmosphere was poor.

doesn't help people take 15 minutes to get back to their seat after HT like.

overall it was good, but I think the main issue is that it's just too reflective of whatever it happening on the pitch. if we're on top, creating chances, pressing defenders etc the crowd get into it and are loud and supportive. which is class, but not every game is like that so we need to do a bit more.

Ashley the genius businessman.  It’s extraordinary to me that the deal was signed in 2021 - months before the takeover was finalised (and was clearly ongoing in the background) - yet no-one  on the buyers’ side seems to have told Ashley that signing such a shithouse deal might be damaging.

wouldn't be surprised if he knew exactly what he was doing. he's an ugly, fat, spiteful manbaby

However, the amount of people who had no idea about safe standing was staggering. Their general knowledge of SJP and the club was poor and it didn’t fill me with confidence of what the club will inevitably implement.

any time I'm exposed to a large number of our fans and their opinions/behaviour I always feel like I'm on an entirely different planet. easy to forget that this place is a total echo-chamber.

Sounds unsurprisingly like the old, know-it-all "I've been here since 197x" brigade who sit silently and hate any kind of change will put the dampeners on this to me.

aye same, although it's encouraging that most people would back it, as long as it doesn't affect them of course

I think it goes without saying they're going to convert the Strawberry corner. but the point about them needing to poll all fans is absolutely spot on, they need to understand the demand. the corner alone isn't enough, that only solves the clubs health and safety headache. I hope this is about more than that, but like you Guv I'm not confident.

  4. the sooner Burn is out of this team, the better. it must be impossible playing as a winger in front of him. it’s a myth he’s a good defender as well, he gets done regularly.

can someone just tell Wilson there’s a last minute World Cup in the summer and Southgate is in the stands watching him? cheers.

I wish we didn't do this tbh, but will obviously watch every second of it once it's released.

never understood this. why wouldn't you want us to do this? what are the negatives? genuine question btw, not being an arse!

I can't wait, personally. have watched all of these types of things, every All or Nothing, Hard Knocks, Drive to Survive etc there's been some belters. always found behind the scenes stuff fascinating, from any industry tbh but sport in particular.

it's a great way to get fans engaged and to bring in new (global) ones. which I suppose might be one of the reasons people won't want us doing this? reality is, that's unavoidable and will happen with a bit of on-field success, regardless.

Making stadiums all seater was the game changer for atmosphere's in England.

When I started going regularly in 1980, St James was split into three groups. 15 - 35's behind the goals, middle aged blokes in the paddocks and pensioners and the well off in the seats. You didn't see lasses, pensioners or little kids in the Gallowgate in those days. It was rowdy and lawless and people could get away with stuff in there they couldn't elsewhere. You'd get pushed, shoved and pissed on and any coppers that ventured in, walked out with their coats covered in spit. There was rivalry between the Scoreboard and The Corner who used to egg eachother on to sing and they both used to egg on the East Stand where the Red Indian warbler was. The most you got from the West stand was them stamping their feet on the wooden floor if we got a corner, which did make a decent noise.

Having like-minded people in designated area's is definitely the way forward and the singing sections definitely need priority in the lower bowl, there's no point in putting them in Level 7.

was thinking about this earlier, actually. whether or not two smaller safe standing/singing sections would work. strawberry corner & leazes east. get some competition going!

the east stand can just turn their hearing aids off if it gets too loud

Fucking hell  I take it back then.

I mean it’s easy to sit here and criticise our song book when I doubt I’d be the one to do it but what’s happened man? Social media probably - just taking songs off of other clubs and changing the odd lyric.

Another thing I can’t stand is United! TOON!

ditch the fucking toon bit man.

bit hypocritical though, considering TOON is the only thing that makes it unique to us  done properly I think it could be quite good. a bit Valerenga if it was slower and properly timed.

I honestly don't know what the solution is. I know Arsenal worked with a fan group to take steps in improving the atmosphere, and it seems to have helped. can anyone who was down at the Emirates this season confirm? there's an article about it here: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/21144366/arsenal-emirates-atmosphere-pints-anthem/

The Isak one is new but I’ve only ever heard it sang in Wonderbar (hellhole by the way, but sound for a singsong) in between 1363 renditions of Bruno in the middle. Thought that would have proper cottoned on, especially at away games.

Isak one was nicked from Spurs

The Ronnie Gill scored him a 5. ?. Fucking idiots. He was very good. Controller the game, sadly attacking wise we stuttered as we have been for the last couple of months.

    a 5?!! wow

  11. last I’ll say on this because I don’t want to be a broken record. but people think it’s enough to turn up and wave a flag for a few minutes. our support has stopped being support and it’s turned into a spectacle. yes it looks brilliant and it’s great for the players to walk out to, but our work as supporters doesn’t just stop there.

it’s astonishing to me because we’ve seen first hand (last season) what getting behind the team during the match does. it unquestionably helps the lads and is detrimental to the opposition. people won’t want to hear it, and it’s heartbreaking to say, but we let them down yesterday.

    N-O post match:

    we are shit,

all the players have to go,

    change the formation, the style,

we are going to finish mid table,

Eddie needs to be replaced, hes not good enough for where we are going.

Oh and the fans are shit,
