  1. The daft thing is that if the deliberate plan of holding positions and being defensively minded simply isn't working anyway. We concede goals hand over fist even though they're all told to hold their shape, get behind the ball and track men back. Had it been successful and we kept loads of clean sheet then there would be some merit to it but it's the worst of both worlds and has been for ages.

We don't attack with any purpose or intent and can't keep them out at the other end too. And none of that is anything whatsoever to do with Ashley, this is squarely Pardew's fault and responsibility. We look s*** and it's 100% down to him and his mismanagement of his squad.

We don't agree on much, but we agree on this. At some point he needs to accept that pressing higher up the pitch and having some genuine threat that the opposition need to worry about will aid us not only in scoring goals but in defending too. I don't know how many 3 and 4 nil defeats you need before you realise you don't have the squad to sit back an absorb pressure.

NB: I don't think sitting back and absorbing pressure is an abhorrent idea in principle, like some on here do. But there's no question we're s*** at it.

At which point does this knacker accept it then? We've seen it for the last 2 full seasons, and he still hasn't clocked on. Why? Nowt to do with Ba or Cabaye or Amalfitano shipped out on loan from under him. It's because he is hapless and completely out of his depth at this level. And he's a coward to boot.

  2. Haven't played in quite some time now due to one thing or another but I'm planning on playing until I just can't do it anymore.

Reckon I can make it to 50.

That's another 11 years of flicks and tricks  :smug:

Hammered in a hattrick earlier tonight including the winning goal  :snod: If my shin splints problem can hold out, I would love to play until I'm 50. 15 years to go like.

  3. Liverpool fans I've spoken to say he was injured in training. It's the uruguayan fa's statement that's got everyone's milk thongs in a hot dog bunch.

  4. Just debating it on twitter, but according to the person I'm debating it with it's predominantly "non locals"

Who support Pardew. I'd say completely the opposite tbh

I don't know anyone who supports him. I know a few who were prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt after last season but every single one now wants the prick turfed. Said it before but the worm hasn't turned it's doing f***ing somersaults.

Surprisingly, BeIn Sport's end of season review left no doubt that the majority of Newcastle fans have completely turned on Pardew. Can't remember who the host was, but he along with Dion Dublin and Don Hutchinson talked about it as a matter of fact. Something that the english media are seemingly reluctant to do, as they continue to give Al Pards excuses after excuse. The aforementioned episode spoke of AP as a manager who is sure to be facing the sack. At least someone sees the big picture.

  5. It's pronounced de-vrey, otherwise it would have. I think anyway. Don't quote this.

    De-Fry surely?

    No, definitely a v

    What's the rule then? V before a consonant is V, and before a vowel it's pronounced F?

Apply that rule to van de Vaart.

 exactly. If I'm not wrong, it is actually pronounced fan der faart.

  6.

I hope Roy Curtis likes death threats.

 he's in for a great time on twitter. Good to see people call him out though. The media fawning over that whole "this does not slip" amateur dramatic hour was loathsome

Exactly. And I enjoy articles and "opinion pieces" that take the piss to the extreme because that's exactly how extreme and over the top the wankfest is/was. Nowt wrong with Liverpool fans believing in themselves and knowing that they are a massive club, which they undoubtedly are. But fuck me do they make fools out of themselves doing it.

  7. Agree. Player never even pretended he was an NUFC player. My feelings on Remy are just complete nothingness.

Tbh I respect him for that. I don't like it, because obviously I'd want a player of his quality to be ours, but I respect it. He acted like a loan player, who seemed to enjoy playing in our stadium, and had some interaction with the fans, but he never really went over the top. Unlike that cretin Borini's contrived chest beating and badge pointing for example.

  8. I don't think Henderson would do any better at right back. I'd rather he played the role he's excelled in all season, and keep Barkley as that wild card off the bench for the first couple games.

The risk of bringing him off the bench lies in that he might try to do everything on his own, especially if England need a goal. In his inexperience that might be detrimental to the team. Starting him will give him time to settle his nerves and get into the game. Just saying like.

  9. I'd like to see Barkley feature as much as possible, starting in the opening match might be a big ask though.

Can Henderson play right back? Johnson is awful IMO. If Henderson can play RB it would free up a spot for Barkley in that midfield.
