  1. I fail to understand how 1 win in 9 is an improvement in form without Carroll, that is absolutely bizarre logic.

It's also 2 defeats in 10 in the league. Stats mean nowt man, they can be shaped in whatever way anyone wants.

Yes but he's a centre forward, he's there to win us games. Could understand using that side of the statistic if he was a centre half. Drawing every game over the course of a season will take you down, we need to win games man and we totally unable to do it at the moment.

We've also scored 15 goals in those 10 games, 10 games that Carroll wouldn't even have played in if he's only just making the bench for Liverpool today.

We didn't fail to win most of those games because of failure to score. We didn't win because of poor defensive mistakes (Sunderland, Spurs, Everton, Fulham at least).

Are you only allowed to score one goal a game? ???

No, but we threw away leads in three of those games.

Er... yeah, we also missed a load of chances to kill the game off.

Who else was going to put them away like? A one legged Andy Carroll?

    Eh?

Forget it, we're not going to agree. You think we're as good without Carroll, I don't. Fair enough.

Where did I say that?

What point are you making then?

I'm saying we're not as good without him and you're arguing with me!

The point I'm making is that having him at the club would have made no difference as we're now into the second week in March and he's still not fit to start :dontknow:

I know that. Other people are interpreting this as "we're alright without him after all!"

    We're not.

The fact that we're not doing as well as we could (not too bad though) has nothing to do with selling Carroll. Sure we would be stronger with him than without but even but we would be without him even if we didnt sell him, so no difference really.

I reckon selling him sent out the wrong signal to the players, and they've become deflated. I strongly believe the Enrique spiel is directly related to the sale of our biggest hope for the next decade.

  2. I'd say giving him game time before the end of the season is important for him. Waiting all summer only builds the pressure up even more. I'd try to give him as much time as is reasonable if I was Pards.

    absolutely true this

  3. Does anyone else here think that Torres is genuinely s***?  I mean, he's been s*** for a good year now.  Maybe he was just massively overperforming before that?  Just a thought!  :D

Oh, and you two above need to get a grip man, it's an internet forum FFS!

Yes, the 8 years before that of consistently playing very well was just a purple patch.  The last 10 months or so where he's played with bad injury problems and played for a team he didn't wanna be at, that's the true account of his ability.

Hey, he might just be doing an Owen, that's all!

    rectumundo

What's so strange about the idea of him being good and maybe's he's now "shit"? No doubt quality is still there, but its looks like a significant chunk of that quality has waned by his standards. I think he's shit

  5. Wilshere will never be a patch on Xavi.

    1) Wilshere is still a bairn. How you can categorically say that  is beyond me.

    2) Xavi is a special player in his own right. It's not a disgrace if a player like him will only come around once every blue moon.

Point is, Wilshere keeps the ball moving. He's got a vast passing range and a solid engine. He also seems to relish the big game atmosphere. Best player on the park last night by a country mile (taking 90 minutes into account).

  6. Someone point out where I said he was Carroll's 'replacement' please. There is no replacement, that's why we're reduced to such a pathetic signing.

All I pointed out were a manager and striker that are no longer on our books and a manager and striker that are. Facts.

It is sad. Let's see how they fare in the grand scheme of things. If we stay up, major spring cleaning is needed in the summer.

  7. where the hell are some of our youngsters?? Zambrela, this guy, even Donaldson was missing for a huge part of this season for no reason..do we have a secret reserves team that plays somehwere in Mozambique that we don't know about?

Donaldson is on loan at 'Pool is he not?
