  1. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp robbed in Madrid

Harry Redknapp was the victim of pickpockets on a trip to Spain last night. The Tottenham Hotspur manager and his assistant, Kevin Bond, were in the Spanish capital to watch Real Madrid defeat their local rivals Atlético 1-0 in the Copa del Rey.

"They took all my money, credit cards, everything really," Redknapp said of the incident, which took place before the game. "We were walking round the outside of the stadium, me and Kevin, and it was so packed. The next thing there's two guys on their knees in front of me and I felt someone pull my overcoat. I didn't take any notice but then they've got my trousers and they kept pulling them.

"I didn't know whether to knee them in the gob because I was thinking: ' What are they doing, these two blokes?' I'm going: 'Let go of my trousers,' pushing them away and while I'm doing that the others are rifling my pockets.

"There were about six of them. I put my hand in my pockets and realised what they'd done."

why do you get the feeling that the money and credit cards weren't his to start with ?

It's not true, Redknapp wasn't mugged.

  2. There is an interview out there somewhere that Alan Smith did with one of the papers (maybe Times or Telegraph) where he described the effect that the bad injury he got at Man Utd. was having on his career. He admitted he'd lost pace and mobility and would never be the player he was before he was injured. It's hardly then his fault that we bought a player who hadn't recovered from a bad injury and in fact never could fully recover, or that managers have continued to pick him to carry out a role that physically he is not capable of doing. The same applies to Nicky Butt, once rated one of the best midfielders in the world, but continually picked by managers of NUFC, when once again physically he could no longer do the job they asked him.

The club signed these players up to long lucrative contracts what is the player meant to do, say I retire, i'm now useless and don't worry about paying me for the next couple of years?

  3. Can't help but think Ireland would be a disaster here.

Maybe under Hughton in the CCC, less pressure and less limelight, he might have got on with it, got into the team spirit etc and got his form back. Now, with Pardew in charge, and a couple of "bad boys" already in the squad, I agree.

Subs: cudicini, kaboul, corluka, Pienaar, Jenas , Crouch, Pav

That will probably be how we line up.

    No Carrol? :mike:

  5.

Poor lad. Feel sorry for Smudger.

f*** that. He's been paid £60k a week for doing f*** all for the entirety of his career here, another six months of the same isn't gonna kill him. Regardless of the debatable morals behind celebrating an injury to your own player, he's f***ing rubbish and brings the side down whenever he plays. Good news.

:mike: did u read the rest of my post? this IS good news footballing wise, which is why I suppose he can be afforded some nice sentiments now that we know he's unlikely to play for us again.

edit: oops, just realized it was the next post, didn't realize i hadn't edited the original post :p

  7. Thing that puzzles me is that in the brief moments we have seen of him in the first team he hasn't actualy looked that bad, combine that with how highly rated he was in Deportivo plus the fee we paid for him and the fact he has started about half a dozen games is baffling, especialy when you consider some of the players who have gotten the nod ahead of him the past couple of years.

Suprised Pardew hasn't come out and explained to be honest, given how vocal he has been about Ranger.

Maybe something's fishy about his transfer fees. It's been mentioned before, but maybe we're not playing so as to avoid making a hefty payment to Depor? Trying to sell him but don't want to risk injuring the lad?

      :mystery:

  8. we wont be able to sign any body half decent from the prem league

we will have to import talent or get it from the lower leagues.

we simply will not pay the wage demands of most prem league players.

its both a good thing and a bad thing. good becuase it means we only really sign players that want to play for us and not the money. and bad because we cant get anybody of real proven premiership quality

AfroP you should post more. Especially after the forum mods banned avatar changes  >:D

  9. A really good interview with him on NUFCTV

owns up about having to get to places on time and showing more commitment

The piece in the ronnie with AP talking about how Shola and Best have changed his mind about pursuing a striker this window, he mentions them two, Loven and then completely ignores Ranger, saying then there's young Phil Airey
