ATT James (the mod):
Like you really needed to ask
The thread itself is fine as we talk about our GK team. Shay's departure is the end of an era, and it deserves talking about the reshuffle. No need to wield your axe on that one.
-
thats business, I suppose.
We're not talking about business. In this thread we're talking football. Sometimes I wonder if you even watch the football on the pitch, or just wait for James Alexander Gordon to announce our result, then come on here and bitch.
sorry, but your mixing me up with mandiarse the hindsight queen.
Go on then, I challenge you to give a meaningful football contribution to this thread. Do you even know who Tim Harper, Steve Krul and Nile Forster are?
-
These simple questions are sooooooo hard for poor NE5.
Tbf Ozzie, he's already answered that question elsewhere

NE5, forget about the game of football for one second. Set it aside. Don't even think about the football aspect.
Now answer this question straight. Was Freddy Shepherd (at least partially) responsible for the financial situation that we face at this club?
forget about football ?
haha, it IS football.
If anything, it nails the daft theory that any old successful businessman can come into football and be a success, something else numerous people said when they were slating the fat b****** for only running a club that qualified regularly for europe, and not splashing cash whenever we lost a game, ironically.
football is a business first now, it has to be with the money involved
so i ask where was ur darling freddy going to find his 100 million which needed paying back
NE5 will NEVER answer that question because a) he has no idea. b) he knows full well that we would have struggled to pay it back, and could have gone into administration had the creditors come calling.
Yes NE5, football is about football first, no doubt about that and I agree. But you also have to have some kind of business sense. You can't simply spend more than you have, as then you would be knee-deep in it.

What do you think of a manager who wins 4 titles with 2 different clubs and 3 manager of the year awards ?
-
Who is the closer relation to you? Henry Kissinger or Dennis Hopper?

"The 22-year-old Portugal international is rated as one of Europe's top young talents"
I have got a clue cheers, Viana was voted europes top young player before he came here!
Totally different kind of player. Viana failed due to his physical attributes and not being mentally strong enough.
If you knew anything about the player (including positions and styles) you'd understand why your comments show you haven't got the foggiest.

Bolton in talks to sign Veloso... That would be quite the coup
http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_4855458,00.html
I would be surprised if this went through, and if he is avaliable for that sum we should dump the M'Bai idea and go for him... Or just sell Given and sign both !!
We would have some bloody midfield with those two!!

The Journal states it is definately a loan and should be concluded today, he has been out for two months I think.
first I've heard of his injury tbh. if he spends his time here in the physio room, then...well....what can I fucking say!
-
Ebondo is on loan till the end of the season with a view to it being permanent and Butt and Harper are signing there contracts today.
why t'fuck would it be a loan???
-
We should really play hardball with City over this one. Now that Cudicini has signed for the spuds, Shay would be their only target left willing to join them. If we don't get what we want by today we should say 15m cash, take it or leave it, and pull out by tomorrow if they fuck about. They won't have a choice but to pay it, and we'll still have 5 days to conclude our deals from there on.

Just confirmed on Russian TV, Arshavin to Arsenal is now a done deal.
I'm expecting to see a pig fly past my window any second now ... or at the very least a slice of bacon.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_4853763,00.html
The guy really seems like a whining c***. Will fit in well with at Arsenal.
The jammy cunts that Arsenal are in the first place, I still don't believe they will be held to ransom over this particular prize cock and his personal demands. These days the world is all about "get rich or die trying", and it's frankly quite sickening.

I don't get it. Are people suddenly crying out for Kinnear, Calderwood and Lovenkrands to be signed up on long term contracts?
No, I'm just expecting our dear owner's actions to match his words.
"The club is off the market, I'm in it for the long term now" is one thing, offering 6 month contracts to people is another.
The Kinnear offer was considered logical, as he was hoping to sell up.
Lovenkrands was logical, as we want to see how well he fares.
Calderwood could have said, I'll take the contract for 6 months, and if JK buggers off, maybe I'll bugger off with him should he get another job.
Not entirely fantasy stuff there me thinks.

Sunderland and West Ham are locked in talks over Calum Davenport, skysports.com understands.
You have him.
No, you have him.
We don't want him.
Tough, neither do we.
-
Another 'til the end of the season' contracts - that's three now if you include him, Kinnear and Lovenkrands. No wonder we aren't signing anyone.
The uncertainty of the future of the club (owner wise, manager wise, league wise and Dennis Wise) is preventing us from moving forward at all.
And yet we are meant to believe the club is no longer up for sale and that we are "Driving the club forward".
A wanky summer ahead I think

You're all mad. This is madness!
this place is a bastard ain't it?

Oooooh NE5, is your nose getting bigger? Are your pants on fire? If you haven't looked at the finances thread why was your name in the users currently looking at it several times?
I haven't looked at it. By the way, I've responded to some of your previous posts directed at me, and predictably you have joined the list of those who are unable to reply and prove me wrong, when you would love to if you could.
Are you someone else that insisted we would be better off without the fat b****** [for anybody] ?
Which questions have you asked me, sorry if I missed them but your perpetual arse kissing of Freddy Shepherd sends me to sleep.
Which fat b****** are you on about, Shepherd or Ashley?
well, we are certainly not better off since the last ownership change are we, but I thought that soopa Mike was going to be the saviour to end all those embarrassing days of qualifying regularly for europe ?
We are financially more stable than we were under Freddy "Lets hoy some more cash at the problem and hope we get somewhere" Shepherd. You should know that from your sneaky peaking at the financial report thread. We will have to see where we are come May to decide how bad Ashley has been. If we finish 13th or so you could say we are on a par with Fat Fred couldn't you? Well you wouldn't cos obviously you are blinkered.
While Mike Ashley is not the man to take the club forward, Freddy Shepherd certainly wasn't either. But at least Ashley isn't taking money out of the club to line his own pocket, unlike Fat Freddy.
I haven't looked at the thread, because I know it will be full of people like you slating the old board for anything you can think of, such is your cluelessness.
You and people like you were told for ages by myself and one or two others that getting rid of the old board wouldn't necessarily lead to more success and a better club, you were wrong. You are being told again that Ashley is taking the club downwards and downwards, his policy is wrong, you are disputing it, but you are wrong again.
You and two others told us. Well whoop-dee-doo. You never gave Ashley a chance, and your opinion of him was made simply because he bought out Shepherd. Besides, you're a true NUFC fan, I think you will have definitely looked at the numbers, even if you didn't bother reading the thread, simply because you care about the club and have a desire to know what kind of state we're in.

Wake up, Joe.. Jose is good enough!
I'd be seriously pissed if we get rid of him this window.. even if we bring in another left back
He is the weakest member of our first team, him and Butt.
Bullshit. Absolute unfounded bullshit. Soz like, but it's my opinion.
Which bit? Enrique or Butt?
Please don't tell me you rate Butt, i might cry.
The Enrique bit obviously mate. The boy can play football. Some people will not give him a chance though.
Personally, I don't think Enrique is that bad, however if our team is fully fit I would say he was one our weaker first teamers. That's a first team that excludes Nicky Butt of course, say:
Given, Beye, Colo, Bassong, Enrique, Jonas, Barton, Guthrie, N'Zogbia, Owen, Martins
Fair enough, but he's not so weak that we need to be looking to get rid. IMO he's the best pound for pound left back we've had in a long long time. It's like saying John O'Shea isn't good enough for Man U because he'd be the weakest in their starting line-up.
-
We've had more Intertoto football than the top four, maybe.
What abouts that anglo-italian lark?
-
Not only has Sir Fred Shepherd gave us more European football than the top 4, he is on the front of the Chron the day & is going to sort the region out 3K worth of jobs.
More European football than the top four?
woosh me thinks?

Reputed to be a good coach. Fingers crossed he can help get the players all pulling in the right direction again once the window shuts.
Brian Kidd, Sammy Lee, even Steve McClaren et al. Reputedly good coaches. Terrible managers.
and Calderwood is coming to manage us?
No... Coming in as a coach which he seems to be better at than actually managing.
good craic then is it not?
Shepherd Has His Say (Again)

You make so many good points and then take a giant plop all over your argument when you say such ridiculous things like: "which are much higher than Ashley's".
Just what kind of bullshit is that? You really think Ashley would rather own a mid-table club than a club competing for honors and qualifying for Europe? You really think the Halls and Shepherd are the only 2 ambitious fuckers out there in football? ffs!!!
