  1. Would love to get a ticket - have put out feelers but not expecting much.

Still have the shirt that I wore at the 1998 Cup Final which would get a reprise.

Oddly enough it swamps me now so I can only imagine how baggy it was 25 years ago.

My recollections of that day somewhat clouded by alcohol.

Aye, it's the last remaining scar of the Ashley era now that the pigeon is gone.

I do hope they can find a way to extend mind. I think 60-65k would be ideal.

Didn't somebody post on here that the club had bought Barker and Stonehouse building along from the ground? Anyone any idea why/what came of it?

Five three piece suites and a bed side table?

I suspect some of it also comes from having been in the top division for so long, it engenders a greater sense of entitlement.  Everton are a big club, and have an impressive history, but their history since the late 80s more closely resembles Southampton or Coventry’s long unbroken runs in the top flight; and they’ve had some very near escapes.  A few years in the lower tiers would likely fix some of those issues.

Everton were the big losers of the PL in my opinion, they were instrumental in the formation of the PL as part of the 'Big 5' but immediately fell away as soon as is started and were immediately taken over by teams such as Keegan's NUFC and Blackburn. They've always had a chip on their shoulder and for years were flirting with relegation before Moyes had them briefly pushing for the top 4.

To me, they're the definition of a team we should be playing. Like, I can't stand Everton and hope they go down, but with all due respect to Bournemouth and co. they're the kind of team who in the long run should be up there and winding us up. It'd get boring otherwise.

True I suppose, I remember them going down and how they were bragging about coming straight back up. In the end it took them about 15/16 seasons. They’ve had their punishment. Same goes for the Mackems - they can stew in champo fit another 4 or 5 years.

Sobering to think that we have spent £200m plus in two windows, but we still have to rely on basically the same attack as our relegation fighters from last season, bar Isak. Just shows how bad our squad was.

We’ve took the piss out of Everton for spending 500m and yes their recruitment has been suspect but it shows how difficult it is.

Maybe time for a new flag, 'a team that tries is no longer enough; we now want a squad with no holes and plenty of backup, and to be winning all the time'

After 14 years of not trying we absolutely wanted a team that tries. We got that very quickly. Ashley has gone now, the new owners want to create an elite club. ‘Trying’ is great but it’s the least we expect now. We tried today but didn’t have the quality to make it count.

They’ve spent upwards of £150m in first year and have 14 years of neglect to put right and you say they’re settled for mid table????

please don’t do that - this is why people label us as delusional

I’ve said all along there’s a soft under belly to the PL, we proved in the second half of last season we were already a match for pretty much anyone outside the top 6 on a game by game basis. The peripheral European places are within sight. Yes we’ve invested and we also started from a much lower base than some of our contemporaries. Those who have done the FFP sums have suggested we can spend, so if that’s true, and I’m no expert, maybe the owners favour a conservative slower build for whatever reason. I’m happy with that but feel we are in danger of missing out on an opportunity. BTW I was in the Gallowgate/Leazes when we had 16,000 and we really were shit so fuck off with the ‘expecting too much mantra’ I just want us to maximise our potential and maintain the momentum from last season.
