Not really sure what the point of anyone owning a football club now the authorities have rigged the game so much, they've got their Harlem globetrotters outcome for the top teams. The rest are just there to make them look good, and if any upstart dares to challenge the establishment, they'll shut them down as quickly as possible. With FFP rigging the game off the pitch and VAR clearly rigging it on, they now have what they always wanted, match fixing in plain sight, with no one with any power to challenge them.

Unless FFP and VAR are challenged in court then we as a club will never stand a chance, those in even less a position than us even more so. The rest of the clubs should band together, start fighting back against them, instead of laughing at each other when we've been had (guilty here, laughed at Everton and the -10)

PIF are the only owners who can conceivably challenge the status quo. They’ll spend up to FFP every season whilst gradually raising the ceiling with improved commercial contacts and increased revenue. It’s going to take a while to breach the gap though. Definitely frustrating. When Man City first qualified for the CL they became a top 4 fixture, they’ve been in every season since. That’s the type of performance the Liverpool’s et al couldn’t countenance with us.

  2. I think Howe survives this season, a bad start to next season, after being backed extensively in the transfer market, would be the coup de grâce. I think things get worse in the short term. We won’t get the intensity that Howe’s game plan requires until these players are rested after the January break and some of the injured players return.

Maybe he was affected by the off the pitch stuff but there were a lot of questions about Tonali's performances before he was suspended.

There were also signs of similar issues with teams waltzing through our midfield with ease before we were beset with injuries and fatigue.

    Yeah the jury is still

massively out on Tonali, I’m not sure he really improved us before his ban.

  4. The World Cup did us a big favour last year IMO, we headed into it looking very tired. Even though we didn’t have anywhere near the injuries we’ve had this season it gave Howe the time to regroup and gave most of the squad a rest.

There could well be something more to it, but the injuries and subsequent fatigue the squad are suffering from is a large mitigating factor. For example yesterday Gordon and Almiron were absolutely blowing, but there was no one we could replace them with.

I'd say Howe has shown over the last season or two, he's one of the best coaches in the league.

Howe has been incredible but if you’ve got players that can barley run you have to replace them even if it’s just fresh legs and not someone who is going to influence the game or allow sone tactical pivot. My only criticism of Howe is he’s run these players into the ground. Gordon played nearly 100 mins and Almiron over 80, both possibly carrying knocks/already fatigued. He lost the game anyway and has to go again in 2 days.

They can fuck off with this shit. There was always the worry that peaking too early last season when the squad wasn't ready would lead to this. The long term demotivation and weakening of the mental strength of the team being shredded is now what worries me. To go from the way the players played last season to their current plight is abysmal and at this point in time I'm really not sure who to blame. Injuries are one thing, but we should still be able to work a result against a team like Luton, even if we were using half the youth team!

We go again in 4 days and Gordon, who was probably carrying a knock, and Almiron have just played another 180 mins. What’s the answer? I would have lined Gordon to have been rested midweek. The wide players have the hardest job in Howe’s system. We are breaking them at the moment.

Incredible how opinion changed on this guy once we started getting linked.

No concrete sources from our end reporting this yet. Wheeler isn't totally unreliable, but I'll believe it when I see it. I don't understand why someone would come from Newcastle to us now given the trajectory of the two clubs, but I suppose the appeal of being the man responsible of taking us back to the top is very appealing. He would be treated like a God.

He’s probably the dog’s danglies but he’s not been here long enough to have made a significant impact and he wasn’t involved in our early transfer market successes. I think most Toon fans are nonplussed at the links, if he wants to leave before he’s even got started so be it. There are  others out there who would jump at the chance.
