Think Argentina will want it more, and that could be their undoing. There's gonna be tons of shithousery from both sides and I wouldn't be surprised to see a decisive pen or red card. I reckon a controversial France win but would like to see Argentina do it because of Messi.

That's how I see it, France being the holders puts them under slightly less pressure and this France squad will still be amongst the heavy favourites for the next World Cup

Not so sure that will be the case for Argentina as Messi won't be around then

I totally get it’s a prick perspective and can’t even put my finger on why. I think it’s a gripe with social media narratives and modern day casual fans rather than the man himself mind but that doesn’t paint me in any better of a picture… because you’re right - it would be fitting.

    Still Allez le bleu!! ??

I get that but if Argentina lose then the same social media will be insufferable the other way, the Ronaldo fans will be unbearable and will see it as some sort of victory for him

  3. I badly want Messi to win it, just feel that France will do enough to win it.

I think France have the better squad but also less pressure, they're the holders so losing it feels less disastrous and they'll also be very much genuine contenders in 2026 whereas I don't see this Argentina side being much of a threat (though still some time for that to change).

Also, I think France will level with Brazil in the next 3-4 tournaments.

Upamecano and Hernandez had to resort to physical challenges to handle Saka and Mount. Now imagine Messi driving at them. I also don't think the French defense has had to handle a dual threat like Messi and Alvarez in the penalty box yet. Argentinian midfield will more than match the French midfield. Of course, Mbappe and Griezmann against the Argentinian defense is another intriguing battle. But I expect Scaloni to find a solution for that as he has at every challenge thrown at him since the first game.

I think after tonight Deschamps picks Konate, he was fantastic

They're arrogant and lucky but they have that bloke up top and they also have very good defenders, Kounde, Hernandez, Upamecano have all been top drawer

Thought Upamecano was dodgy against England

    Whilst Konate was fantastic tonight

Wonder what Deschamps does for the final

Aye. Sorry to say it but if I want to watch a Newcastle match then you’re doing that. You are either going to the match, watching on IPTV/pub, or sitting at home watching the scores on SSN. You aren’t going to go and see Hartlepool in League Two, or North Shields in the Northern League instead.

If you don’t scrap the rule, sooner or later the Premier League will just change the KO times of every game away from Saturday at 3pm, then you’ll get the EFL doing that themselves.

Whilst that is true for you and myself (since I don't go to lower league matches nor have any intention of doing so) that won't be the case for all

Removing the 3pm blackout seems inevitable but I recognise that it could impact lower league attendances up and down the country, and for that reason I understand why it's in place and a part of me wants it to remain that way
