It's a bit of a stupid deal for Bayern though, es out of form, he'll be cup tied and Mukiele is outstanding, will he even get a game
UEFA abolished the cup tied rule a few years ago

Don't want to lose him, what he offers both on and off the field is invaluable
However, if the reports are correct that he's keen on the move (for whatever reason) then it would be foolish not to try and extract the maximum fee possible, thank him for his service and invest that money back into the side

It wasn't a foul imo.
I agree, never a foul
But the photo shows he has his hands on him and they repeatedly showed photos with Joelinton and his hands on Gabriel

Curious what Arteta thinks about the challenge from Gabriel for the goal. Very similar to Joelinton's (against Gabriel ironically). Although in fairness Arteta never did clarify what his meltdown was in reference to.
I thought the exact same
Took a photo and sent it to a few Arsenal fans, going to watch them talk shite now

Yeah, there is this huge misunderstanding about amortisation
I honestly think some people look at it as free money
Take the Chelsea and their lengthy contracts, whilst it lowered the amounts each year they will still be paying for those players for years to come and that could end up catching up with them down the line
The Saudis bailed them out last summer buying their deadwood and this summer they'll get money from us for Hall and will probably sell Gallagher, they'll need to keep doing this each season though and if they don't all those long contracts will eventually catch up and hurt them

Think this thread is a bit all over the place when you see names like Lampard and Cantona being thrown about
I guess it's all relative but I thought this would be for the likes of Colback, Hendrick etc

We've moved on from that now. We're talking about selling Longstaff for £30 million over a five year contract. Taking amortaniseation into account, that gives us £150 million to spend as a lump sum to do as we wish.
The length of contract for players you sell is irrelevant when it comes to amortisation

That ex England man utd player also played for Everton cannot recall his name.
Darron Gibson?

Not a chance we are getting Kimmich in place of Trippier

It's Graeme Carrick
Ben Dawson is now part of the U21 coaching team
-
Really looked Broja at Southampton but he's had a bad injury and he's looked very toothless for Chelsea so far
He probably needs a year long loan somewhere where he'll play week in week out

Agree except I don't think there's any clamouring, from fans or the club. Just stories in the press that hate us and don't want us to do well, probably being fed by his agent. If there ends up being anything in it I'd be shocked and disappointed.
That's fair although there is a very tiny minority that seem keen on getting him because he's a "winner" and because it's "Mr Robsons club"

Wanting Mourinho 10 years ago made sense as he was still elite
Mourinho in 2024 is not that guy, he's done at the very top level and he's just pure toxic
The likes of Pep/Klopp are levels above and would just embarrass him, I find the clamouring for Mourinho very strange

Good defensive work early doors by Minteh, however Senegal take an early lead

I'm confident we can have a strong finish as well, but by that time it might be too late. UEFA Conference league looks like the best bet right now but we'll need to be relying on players returning from injury not to have any setbacks.
Depends on what you think it's too late for, I think top 5 is done, we are 11 points behind, realistically could be 14 once the Villa game is played. 16 games to claw that back isn't happening
I would not rule out 7th (6th is probably pushing it and will need a lot to go right with very little margin for error)
Ultimately, if we can end the season with some form of European football I'll take it

I’m happy to cut Howe slack too, as in I think his job shouldn’t be under threat at all this season. But that doesn’t mean that entire seasons just get written off. This season - irrespective of context - will have spent a lot of that ‘credit in the bank’ that he has.
I think valid criticisms can be laid at his door this season - I don’t think he handled the schedule of his first European campaign all that well. I’ve never been convinced that a ‘game by game’ philosophy works at this level - all top European managers think about more than simply the next game. But like other good NUFC managers before him, he deserves time. Chancers like Pardew or Bruce didn’t.
That's fair, I wouldn't write the season off too
I'm confident we can have a strong finish but that confidence is based on the hope that we'll start to get some bodies back and apart from early Feb we are at 1 game per week which will be a lot more manageable

The soft tissue injuries only became a regular occurrence once the lack of rotation kicked in due to the "freak" injuries.
In his interview with Shearer, Isak has said players were being brought back before they were 100% to plug the gaps.
That said, Howe has said mistakes have been made medically. I wonder if he was referring to Botman's knee injury not being detected.
Of all the ones that's the one that had me thinking wtf, beyond amateurish

Context is about thinking through all of it. Injuries are part of that - but you’re implying that injuries are simply all down to bad luck. The context for some us would be - why is the same medical team here from Ashley’s time? Why has the head physio appointed by Ashworth left when it became abundantly clear that there was a problem? Why is the manager playing football with an intensity level unsuited to playing two games per week?
That sort of context is important, too.
That's not what I'm implying, I think with some of the injuries there are reasonable questions to ask and I hope the club look into that
The injuries of Burn, Barnes, Murphy, Targett, Anderson, Pope are just bad luck if you like, call it freak injuries etc, not sure anyone can pin blame on the coaching staff or even the medical staff on that one
Botman the injury itself is unlucky but the handling of it I would rightly question. Willock, well, who knows what's went on there but again can understand asking questions.
Wilson is just made of glass, not blaming anyone for that
Overall, I'd say the bulk of the injuries is down to bad luck and for that reason I'll more than cut Howe some slack.

I'm pretty sure Chelsea are severely fucked from next season onwards if they don't get CL.
They'll just sell Gallagher and maybe even end up selling Palmer to hang on for another season

If Everton are found guilty then surely because of their previous breaches, the punishment will be worse?
It might just relegate the fuckers.
I wonder if it's a points deduction on top of the current 10 or would it get delayed until next season
Either way, tough times ahead for Everton
Also, think this is a sensible warning for those amongst us that say we should sod FFP and just deal with it later, I think I much prefer the approach the club are taking

Just seen Mbappe has turned 25. If he has any footballing ambition he should be moving on this summer. The cunt.
Think it's pretty much nailed on he'll go to Real on a free this summer
-
The summer doesn't look great but this is with the massive benefit of hindsight
The club couldn't have predicted/expected the ban/injury
People calling it a failure/disaster, I wonder if they were saying this at the time or are they being clever after the fact
