Wew, nice one
-
Surprised Robinson didn't go down but that could be a red like
-
Ref being kind to Villa with some of these decisions the last 5-10 mins
-
Digne off so his clean sheet is protected (not that it really makes a difference since Sheff Utd aren't scoring)
-
Surely that's not a pen
-
VAR taking a look at a possible foul on the keeper
-
Awful defending from Sheff Utd

Haven’t watched much Villa this year mar our game at the start of season, are they always this boring?
Last game of theirs I watched was against City and they were anything but boring

From the viewpoint of Barca, Real etc (plus, let's be honest here, if it wasn't for the fans backlash, the English clubs too) it'd be like a Champions League where they are pretty much guaranteed to be a part of even if they have a shit season domestically.
That's exactly it, they have a sense of entitlement, they think it's disgraceful if they struggle in a domestic season that they get to miss out on the Champions League
It all boils down to wanting as much money as possible and for it to be guaranteed
The initial idea was awful, they clearly didn't anticipate the backlash, and without the Premier League clubs it had next to no chance of getting anywhere
The biggest call out was the removal of jeopardy and lack of meritocracy, so this time they think having 2 relegation spots from 16 is some sort of solution, all they did was present the same pig from 2 years ago and only put lipstick on it
-
They think they're being clever by introducing "promotion"/"relegation" but the merest of scratches beneath the surface reveal it's still very much built to benefit these clubs have a huge sense of entitlement
The reality is the ESL and the main proponents of it are wanting it to get more money and the way you guarantee that is by removing the current process which is a meritocracy
For all the flaws of UEFA, at least now if Villa finish top 4 they know are in the CL or if one of the "bigger" teams struggle in the league (Chelsea/Man U) then they rightly get to miss out on playing in the top competition
Real/Barca will continue to push for it but without the PL sides it doesn't stand a chance

He didn't bring in Bruno, got completely used by Milan and Tonali's agent, then sold ASM for nothing. The success stories should be credited as much, if not more, to Eddie Howe. Ashworth is very replaceable and the trajectory of the club has much more to do with the manager and his players than Ashworth. This moment is an opportunity to upgrade the position.
You do know his role isn't limited to just transfers?
-
Ref has clearly bottled it, not keen on giving a red card so early in the game
He was looking straight at it
-
He's lucky there is no VAR as that is a red
-
Would be disappointed if he left because it was a bit of a coup to get him however he isn't the only guy in the world capable of doing that role so I'd be confident we would replace him adequately
It seems like the foundation is laid out at the club already so anyone else coming in won't have to do a lot of the groundwork anyway

Isak and Murphy I'll give you. Joelinton played like 7 games in a row before he was injured again
Not sure I'd even give Murphy
If we operated immediately he would still have spent the same length of time out injured, by playing him all we did was move the period he was out for slightly further along
It's not like if we operated on him he would be back sooner so trying to get him to continue without surgery was hardly a big risk

Only thing I can think of is he was expecting Longstaff to try and knock the ball over him and run around the other side of him. Longstaff did the opposite.
But even that why does he think a flying kick in the air is the way to go?
I guess he was still upset with the hit in the face from Lascelles moments earlier and saw red and by the time he realised it was too late -
It's a blatant red card, I accept he pulled his leg back so it wasn't even worse but look at where the ball is at all times it makes no sense what he is even doing
-
If he's mouthed off after the first yellow then it's the right decision
Obviously consistency is an issue

Hope Liverpool play like this on New Year’s Day!
Nunez will turn into prime R9 against us
-
Carra's voice went proper high pitch there
-
We were far more threatening against Man U with a more depleted squad
Though do think Liverpool will eventually score, Man U will invite more and more pressure on
-
Szoboszlai, more like slopposzlai
