Media snippets are simple short comments. You're not grasping anything below the surface... Spain dominated possession and did nothing with it - I would not call that dominating the match. Dominating the match would require lots of chance being produced. They made 2/3 all game?

The content is pretty much spot on Frazzle. Yes? Not sure what's so worrying about people agreeing with it.

Who is saying we are now contenders and why use the word luck to explain our triumph? How many shots did Spain get on target? One, with one hitting the post. That's by no means excessive luck, that's good defending to restrict them to maybe 1 or 2 clear chances. A number of chances you'd expect most teams to muster in a game. Not enough credit here for Englands defence.

No they weren't. England did not go out to retain possession, did they? They executed their game plan perfectly in the first half especially. The only way you could claim that Spain outclassed England would be if they had scored 3-4 goals, but they didn't. In fact they didn't have more than a few half chances...

Heh, that's plain rubbish. Spain may have dominated possession on the middle third, but they were limp around the area. Partly due to the excellent discipline of the England players. Of course Spain will always remain massive favourites against us in tournament enviromnent, but that friendly has shown that we have the capacity to be competitive.

An important friendly that can only help our confidence and performance at the Euros.

Btw, are those comments about the Carroll saga from the article - on my phone so difficult to spot. I love them.

Embarrassment, yes. Hard to deal with, yes. But, having someone who is hard to deal with is really paying dividens, so in that respect I'm really happy.
