  1. Stoke haven't really looked like conceding for me. They've done the backs-to-the-wall thing so well. Horrible to watch, but will be mid-table comfortably based on their home form. What a great finish.

  3. Am watching the Chelsea match here in the US. All Chelsea, but Stoke defending in numbers, and well. They're even tougher this year IMO.
  4. I think he's got potential too, would have liked to have kept him (am Spurs). Problem is, we're only just regaining some stability now, which we didn't have for his whole time with us.
  5. Reading between the lines on the text thingy, Germany have just been hammering high crosses into the box. Is that their thang, that they're just taller? i dont know a great deal about them, but 3 (4 now) of their goals have come from having the ball at their feet, only 1 was a header. They are ust stronger, more experienced and better overal. Kelly Smith is pretty much the only England player who is as good as them Cheers.
  6. ...with some competition from Shearer *ducks*
  7. I've lost track, have you guys got anyone left? Edit: Watford, I mean. My Dad goes quite a bit but he's as depressed as you seem to be.

  9. How so? Pity we can't see the game in the US, sounds like a cracker.
  10. I think that's exactly what he did, attack as the best form of defence. I would say this, as a Spud, but there are parallels between the way Spurs have been set up and England. Lennon keeps the oppo occupied on their wide left, which means Gerrard/Modric have a lot of freedom but that in turn puts pressure on the other full-back (Assou-Ekotto or Cole).
  11. 1-0 US. What a great goal. Edit: and not the best keeper in the world.
  12. Well if the first half was anything like the second, this isn't the best advert for CONCACAF. Bitty and niggly. The US need to keep the ball, and build some proper attacks rather than attempting deep crosses. Edwards is embarrassing Spector.
  13. Got the Yankees and the footy. Didn't realise it was on, somehow, what has happened so far? Btw Jeter bunted the first pitch for a hit....just two off Gehrig now. S****, they almost scored.
  14. Favorite?? Really? If we're talking bookie's odds then it's nothing to do with the team at all, just our blind optimism. Spain will be favorites, surely.
  15. You really don't want to start this conversation. Hee hee. Oh go on. When you've finished that one we can talk about the Olympic boxing...
  16. Well, maybe, but that's an unbelievable set of qualifying results we've put together. I'll celebrate that. Who would you rather have on the right? I think it's the point that there is no one else. That may be Capello's idea - screw defending on the right, let's just attack.

  18. Northern Ireland absolutely all over Slovakia. How are they still losing?
  19. Plucky little Finland finally score against football giants, Liechtenstein.
  20. Weirdly, in the US I can see pretty much every game (France on French language TV etc) instead of England. Am relying on you lot for pithy updates.
  21. Bit random here, but how s**** are Belgium now? Losing 2-1 to Armenia? Emre scores for Turkey.
  22. Yeah, seems like a proper footballer. I keep thinking he's Darren Fletcher. Landon Donovan is still probably the US's best (outfield) player!
  23. Oh, I know you're hanging on every word I was referring to the Argentina goal man. :colo: Never had to myself before
