Aye the situations are identical. Ben Arfas competition is coming back from a year out & both are marked down for long term positions upfront and not on the wing as he was at that time. Raylors position also hasnt changed adding further options for a player not performing on that wing. Nowt different atall.

The last time he changed how we played was QPR when Cabaye got injured & we instantly improved. He did then start the next 3 games v Fulham, Brighton & Blackburn. Only dodgy performances in the latter two saw him get dropped. If he plays well Pards will keep him in i imagine.
  3. So bizarre this, seeing everything behind the curtains really

We clearly had improved massively defensively over last season though. Before Saylors injury only Spurs & Manchester city managed to score more than one goal against us in 13 games, thats a ridiculous record. They both needed penalties to achieve that. Only chelsea managed it with 2 goals in the last minute after we lost Colo on 25 mins & Saylor at the end also. Pardew earns no faith achieving that? Because thats a crazy record with our defence. Giving a chance to youngsters like Vuckic, Abeid etc isnt an improvement in terms of ideas? Or trying Jonas in the middle which actually worked nicely for a period wasnt a sign hes willing to think outside the box? Hes done more for our setup defensively than in terms of creating flowing football sure, but as i say look at the defense hes working with. If he believes we'll score regardless as we had been, does it not make sense to sway parts of the side toward covering your weakest link? A balanced side is more stable than one which relies on one or the other isnt it?

We showed in the 2nd half today that we can play football and 2 of the players you have mentioned were on the pitch at that time and the other should have been as he was one of our better players in the first shitty half. Via Sunderland sitting back & going a man down affording those players loads of space. Williamson & Simpson clearly arent top 4 standard, they will cost us goals. If we still had Saylor who knows where we couldve been, i actually imagine we would be top 4 right now quite easily the way we were going.

No chance are Williamson, Santon & Simpson up there with the best atm & thats most of our defence. The main reason we've lost points recently has been due to conceding a lot, not lack of scoring chances. You think Pardews at fault for that defence not getting us into the top 4 recently ?
  7. Still think hes just getting used to the league and the lack of space hes afforded. Hes good at closing the opposition down, but less so at making himself easily available in good positions. Which is kind of key for a playmaker.

You're wasting your breath fella. I know, people will look back on their posts on here with utter f***ing embarrassment! Jeez, there's some fuckwits gan about. I think some of his tactics and decisions are far from perfect, but come on. Realism needs to hit some of these fuckers clean on the nose. 3 good examples of what TRon was going on about earlier. I've yet to see many well-argued, convincing arguments against Pardew apart from ones along the lines of 'we play hoofball', 'league position doesn't matter, it's the way we play that counts' and 'Pardew's so negative, he's costing us points'. All of which can be rebutted. Again, what football team have you watched for the last 2 months? Cos I and many on here could provide convincing arguments. Your last argument in regards to us "fluking" wins could be destroyed in about 2 seconds if someone took the time. Go on then..... Have a look at who got the goals and assists in those games & who was involved in putting them on the pitch when very few on here would have wanted them involved.

  10. Have a good feeling about this game, just feel we need to step up and the players know it.

He was just much better today really, compared to Brighton/Blackburn. His control was on that higher level again, absolutely did their defenders time after time.

It seems a lot better reasoned than the support posts tbh. agreed tbh. most criticisms are rather well explicated with specific, detailed, well reasoned arguments. then people come along and go "we're sixth!" "what a load of nonsense!" "f***ing beyond ridiculous". Seems a relatively simple point to make. We had an amazing start to the season & had one of the best defences in the league, people have said around Chelsea is where we lost momentum a bit. Thats also where we coincidentally lost one of our main defenders & had to go a period of time with no Cb's. We still followed that period by outplaying Man united, taking 4 points off them this season before losing our key striker and actually improved our league position in that time. Now people are coming out with "No faith" in the manager ? Be serious. Hes clearly earnt time, 80% of this nonsense is due to Ben Arfas situation and thats very debatable as his thread shows.
  13. Ive def jinxed Ba making him cap for the last 3 games like. Ill change it next week, its all good.

You make out that him being greedy is a bad thing? It really isn't. It is when you're trying to take on a 3rd man a yard from goal at the byline It was his 'greediness' that got him into that position... Obviously you balance the options he has available with his own ability to make something happen. He had more dangerous options by that point that shouldve outweighed him wanting to go past another, he didnt need to. Do you know that? Do you know exactly what options he had. He is most certainly not a greedy player in the way you describe. He looks for goals, be that assists or his own. Well we had two strikers in the box infront of him with others around the edge of the area so yeah. You called him a greedy player yourself just earlier man.

List of "most balls lost" in La Liga: http://www.superdeporte.es/deportes/futbol/primera-division/estadisticas/balonesperdidos.html Man, Pep should bench that Argie fella. And VI wins the discussion[/end thread] Again, the issue is not how much he loses the ball but where he has lost it & the situation that puts us in following that. A lot of the time I'd argue this comes as a result of him being thrown on late when we're throwing men forward trying to rescue the match - it goes without saying that if we lose the ball in those circumstances we're going to be susceptible to a counter attack. At times it has been, other times he just drifts infield and has given it away to easily. He did it several times in his central position in one of his first proper games against City & i noticed it then. Becomes an argument of cause and effect anyway & only bias due to his previous ability put people on Ben Arfas side tbh. Pardew is going purely off of him proving himself in sub appearances like anyone else & he needs to provide more positive than negative in that time. He obviously did today & Pards has said so not suprisingly to me.

Did you enjoy watching Krul welly the ball down the pitch in the first half? What's the context of losing possession in that scenario? No dont agree with it obviously. But when we lose the ball all our players are in position able to control an oppositions attack if we do. Same when Simpsons spaffs it out for a goalkick again or Jonas loses it pissing about on the wing. Ben Arfa has done it running infield trying desperately to create, others move sideways of him to create a sideways pass. So when he loses it, we're open through the middle.

Never any context in these arguments. Its about WHERE he loses the ball & what hes attempting at the time. Ofcourse all our players lose the ball, it doesnt always lead to dangerous counter attacks. His have done. People have been on here enough times with "His teammates just arent on the same wavelength" making excuses for when its happened.
  23. Eh? What have Drogba and Lampard done wrong, apart from not playing particularly well? Something about a rather substantial anti-manager negative impact on the squad? aye cole and lampard confronted villa boas after being dropped for the napoli game, and then a couple of days later lampard not only didn't play it down, he went and complained in public to the press. dick. Not suprised, stupid decision to drop him. Theyve struggled for goals, hes one of their few consistant goal scorers.

With Pardew the difference is hes going on recent performances over reputation. Ben Arfa was poor against Brighton & Blackburn, any other player wouldnt get starts after that. He was very good today, its about that simple.
