Apart from the fact he should have had two assists and a goal as has been said. His movement was much better, no reason he wont perform equally against Germany. The first couple games he didnt have any space to be effective, thats exactly what the oppositions set out to achieve and it worked because of Heskeys finishing. Slovenia tried the same at the start & Defoe made the difference.

Having a capable striker next to him obviously helped a lot against Slovenia

Just listened to Keegan saying Beckenbaurs comments should help Capello get them fired up for it also, forgot about that.

The main issue will be keeping Klose out of it. We're not the best at stopping crosses, we stand off to much. Have faith in Terry & Upson though, not sure about Carragher. Hopefully a more open game will suit us.

Lampards more of a concern surely. Bit better today, but beyond simple passing & the rebound he sliced really didnt come into the game again. Not that he did badly, just not the same "world class" standard of player he is at Chelsea by far.
