Yeah, makes far more sense to consider what could have happened over what did happen.

We Would Be Confident Of Beating 3 Out Of The 4 Semi-Finalists.

Still doing that thing where you compare the relative performances of sides specifically against Crystal Palace away to evaluate how good a side is. Thank fuck you didn't choose the mackems for your comparison, we've given them 2 out of their 6 wins this season and looked rubbish in both games. -

Yet now we are moaning Cisse was playing and not Remy. You look at the line ups that round, how many literally played full strength, not a single player rested/dropped. The team selected was more than good enough to beat Cardiff, the tactics of the match weren't. Simple as. Why are you ignoring the fact that Cisse was our best striker in Jan 2013, which wasn't at all the case 12 months later? Because he's not going to get back to that striker if he's sitting on the bench? Cisse needs to play games, a cup game at home to Cardiff was a good opportunity imo. Had no complaints with seeing him start. I don't understand your original point then, sorry. The point being made was that we chose not to play our best players, including our best striker. That was the case against Brighton and it was the case against Cardiff. Against Brighton our starting 11 was appalling but regardless we left Marveaux on the bench until 70 minutes as the gameplan was apparently to keep the score down to 0-0 and then bring him on for some magic. We were 2-0 down by the time he came on. -

I'll never believe Coloccini and Cisse were injured for that game against Brighton. -

Cabaye, Debuchy, Krul and Remy have been arguably our best performing players this season, if he was bothered about the cup he'd have played as many of them as he possibly could. -

It's a wonder anyone qualified for the World Cup at all, sounds like everyone was fucking shit in the qualifiers.

Are there any English managers working today who don't share this viewpoint to some extent? Pard Nut. He likes his defenders to defend and his attackers to defend.

As confident as when we played Stevenage, Brighton, Cardiff, etc? Our approach to the cups is a fucking joke, winds me up like nowt else. -
Absolute bollocks. Nee more replies from me, laters.

He didn't, in the slightest. "We aim to finish at least 8th, however we have mixed feelings about the Europa League" is not contradictory. And yes, having mixed feelings about the Europa League is valid. I think an awful lot of clubs and an awful lot of fans have mixed feelings about it. It is contradictory - if we finish higher than 8th (depending on the circumstances in the league that year) then we risk qualifying for the Europa League. Manager and club staff don't want to qualify for the Europa League. See Pardew's "Thank God we're not in the Europa League next season", his regular moaning about the competition's format since, and that fan meeting the other week where they basically said it wasn't worth bothering with. If you think we're pushing to get into a competition that we quite clearly detest then you're daft. If you think we're aiming higher (i.e. Champions League) while not making any permanent signings for 12 months then you're daft. So we are, in effect, creating our own glass ceiling - hovering around in 8th while moaning that the Europa League isn't a good enough competition for us to compete in (having not won anything for 40-odd years).

In the last 6 years alone we've seen Portsmouth (twice), Cardiff, Everton, Stoke and Wigan reach FA Cup finals. League Cup we've seen Villa, Birmingham, Cardiff, Swansea, Bradford and Sunderland get to Wembley. And that's without looking at quarter/semi finals, which were full of inferior teams/clubs to us. I was at Stevenage and Brighton (2nd time) and we were quite clearly going through the motions on the day, and that's without the mysterious injuries, etc.
-
Really, really wish we'd give it a go in the cups like. Been banging this drum for years, and every shite team that gets to the latter stages just makes it worse. The day we win a cup will be the best day as an NUFC supporter yet we're not even trying.

£11m paid off his loan the accounts before last, a £10m profit in the most recent, a complete refusal to sell good advertising space to increase our spending power, no permanent transfers in 2 transfer windows, numerous players leaving and therefore off the wage bill, etc etc. "His plan is to be as successful as possible within the discipline of balancing the books".
-
Honestly. We're interested in finishing above 8th but we're dubious about getting into the Europa League, and that "has some validity". Contradict yourself much?

Stick him in a transparent box over the Thames, David Blaine style. http://imgur.com/oSWWncn.jpg

Cronky's having a whale of a time though.

He isn't even French, would be amazed.

They rake in so much money they'll always be a huge club IMO. Would be best off changing managers sooner rather than later though I'd say, can't see it working out for Moyes now. Think they might give him another year though.
