I thought it a far worse incident for the fact that it's not as if Meyler was getting in Pardew's face and that was the reaction, he actively went after him and caused the situation. He had a moment to walk away with the player going off to take the throw-in, but he chose to do that instead.
-
Wonder what the reaction would be if someone like Allardyce or Redknapp had headbutted someone? Assume some would be really pissed off about the overreaction of the press. And before you say it, Pardew has the press in his back pocket just as much as those 2, and neither of those have such previous form either.
-
Considered it for a split second and now it's all I hope will happen. He can't cope with the slightest bit of criticism from media/fans, so it's possible I suppose. Howay the witch hunt.

You didn't expect to come in here and see people condemning the manager for, like, HEADBUTTING(!) an opposition player?! Have I not condemned the manager? In many posts? I have updated my personal text and signature just in case anyway. Fair do's, I'm just saying I think this is a serious incident for a number of reasons and not something that could/should be palmed off. The FA's rules aren't at fault in this instance (assuming he gets a lengthy ban), I'd agree that the media reaction is amplified in these cases but that's partly because it's rare. Pardew's managed to make himself the first manager in the history of the Premier League to nut a player during a game, he'll get hounded for weeks/months and punished, and deservedly so.

He went after a player and nutted him - it's incredible that a manager has even done it, even more so that people are saying the reaction is a sign of the game going soft.
-
Really? I think the FA should throw the book at him, especially being mindful of his previous form.

And the dirt is gone!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Couple of facts: - Incidents like that are always described as headbutts when players do it. - The media are always all over any contentious incidents in football and will debate them to death, particularly if they're unusual or in this case unprecedented. If you can't acknowledge the above and accept it then you want Pardew to be given special treatment compared to anyone else, for some reason.
-
Haven't caught much of the reaction yet so can't really comment whether it's been OTT, did catch MOTD though and the point about discipline is valid. Coincidentally (or not) our discipline under Pardew has been appalling at times and it's no wonder when the coaching staff are acting like radgies on the touchline so frequently. As for the fierceness/exposure of the debate we all know how the media deal with this stuff now (Suarez, Terry, Anelka, etc - you could even go back to Cantona) and this incident is pretty unprecedented so everyone will have an opinion on it. In short, if you don't want to have your behaviour debated in newspapers, on TV, on radio, etc, then diven't headbutt people you fucking daft cunt.

I go away for 2 days and Pardew nuts someone in an away game in which we scored 4 goals? Fuck me, you lot should chip in to send me on more holidays.
