  1. Cool, was just surprised to see a non-local supporting Depor. They aren't a team I expected to have a big foreign support. Although as your family story showcases the Galician diaspora is very big.
  2. So you're not really Spanish? What did draw you to Depor, then? Genuinely interested.
  3. Another photo http://estaticos01.marca.com/imagenes/2010/08/03/futbol/equipos/deportivo/1280871856_extras_portadilla_0.jpg
  4. yeah you are, you play man uitd at 9.30 tomorrow. im pretty sure this tournament is where wenger spotted cesc. man utd also signed the da silva twins after seeing them play here. At least he didn't spot Messi, which was in the same team IIRC... Didnt Messi's family have roots in barca or something as well? sure I read something about you moving his family over and funding his steroid prescriptions? Messi has relatives in Catalonia, from the same town Roberto Martínez is from. But his family moved over form Argentina when he trialed for Barça (they are back there now). And it was growth hormone, not steroids man same thing. It's not the same. Although people use both to increase muscle mass, a steroid it's not the same hormone. Giving steroids to a 13-yeard old boy would be just wrong, they are derived from male sexual hormones

  7. Meh, seems it's only on the Galician TV and I don't get that one on my package.
  8. Watching the photo again I realize the thing isn't really much shorter than Eto'o, who's 1,80
  9. You get one of these. Same size, just not as well built/guilded. http://deportes.orange.es/deportes/img/efe/2238422w.jpg
  10. I have to say it, the Teresa Herrera we have at the Barça trophy rooms just looks awesome. Love how it completely dwarfs the "legit" trophies around it. It's just so fucking massive. Every club should try to get one of those, really.
  11. Never said he is a malignerer, just that he's made of glass.
  12. Robben back to his usual injury prone self. Pity. Was thinking he was starting to get that past him after last season.
  13. Donato, Djalminha, Mackaay, Fran, Mauro Silva, Conceiçao... that side was canny. Would easily be a top European side still today.
  14. To be honest, I think you have been spoilt by the last twenty years. Truth is that Depor are a rather small club financially-wise and you couldn't afford to keep playing the caliber of players you've been accostumed to since the days of Bebeto and Co. You can't compete with the likes of Sevilla, Valencia, Atlético... with their stadiums and revenues they pull compared to yours. Lendoiro has done wonders to make it last as long as it did, and sure it's been a hell of a ride. League, cups, CL semis... Were you around during the times of O Bruixo?
  15. Question: just how close were you really to signing Modric?
  16. Yes they were in pretty bad shape. Those €20m NUFC paid them for Colo/Xisco helped a lot I think... They have shed some wage fat and sold some important players like Filipe Luís and Colo, so they are light years from being the side that won La Liga early in the decade, but I think they'll stabilize as a midtable side and be able to wear off the financial storm. I guess Deporik will have a better knowledge of where they stand now.
  17. I like Juan Domínguez and Urreta myself. Guardado is easily Depor's best player although he didn't have the best of seasons last year. Guardado/Urreta should give Depor better wingplay than most teams outside European places in La Liga. When are you dedicating a street to NUFC in La Coruña? Can't think of many people bringing more money to the city than them.
  18. That's a good observation. I think that works in a 4-5-1 system with two holding midfielders. Madrid did that past season with the Diarra/Alonso pairing, for example (and they were a great counterattacking side). I presume ManU also tries that with Fletcher/Carrick but Carrick had a rather bad season. One of the reasons Liverpool bombed so badly, imho, is how they replaced Alonso with Aquilani (who plays further up the pitch) and then played Mascherano/Lucas as holding mids. Not a ounce of creativity there.
  19. Yes, Touré's "problem" is that he tried to do too much. He bombed forward, tried to spray play... Busquets is far more quiet and limits himself to his job. If you look at set pieces, for example, he's always the only man that never attacks them. Puyol, Piqué... usually attack the box in turns, Busquets is always the last man, covering for them. I think Touré would be a way better box-to-box player than just a DM, imho.
