I doubt any defender just literally wellies it in any random direction like, they will always try to hit the striker - some are obviously better at it and I think Lejeune recently he's been more in the hoof it camp. I'm being harsh as Joselu actually won most things against Arsenal but it still never got us anywhere. It was just frustrating knowing that whenever Lejeune was on the ball Arsenal would have it their half within 5 seconds.

Wilshere hit it straight at him. Rob Elliot can make some very good saves like, he's shown that in the past. Not sure why we'd elevate that save above anything other than something every keeper in the top 7 divisions of English football should be making though.

I've not really been at Elliot's throat recently as it's like criticising Perez for being a shite AM when we have no-one else, but he literally nearly gifted them a goal in the same circumstances as Darlow did against Everton in the second half He was massively fortunate. Even last season in the Championship we were clearly a lot worse on the ball than the teams around us despite picking up more points. We're pretty much awful to a man. You're not wrong either, we were often second best for possession. The amount of games where we'd look sloppy as fuck was frightening. I'm not saying we never had the best squad in the league, we arguably did, but we never could have played like Huddersfield, Fulham and at times Shef Wed did. The lack of any kind of quality on the ball is killing us now. We're just drab.
