Just checked and Andy Howe has been a head scout for longer than Nickson.

Andy's been on Howe's scouting team for over a decade, they have an exceptional record together. The summer transfer window was bad but it doesn't remove the good work he did before it.

It suggests Howe would put Andy in an important role over someone who is apparently much better than him, because they're related. He could just trust Andy because they've worked together for over a decade. It's no different than him being insistent on Tindall being his assistant.

How many goals has Gordon got from open play this season? How many did he get a couple year ago? A player can look wildly different depending on how a team is playing. Hopefully Elanga isn't actually rubbish and we see it next year. We have a few examples of this kind of thing over the past half decade.
