  1. Absolutely gobsmacked. I don't have the words to describe how I feel about Ashley atm.

Hughton has done wonders for us over the past 18 months and without him I'd hate to think where we would be now. Had the best season possible last year and holding our own this season. Just spanked the mackems 5-1, villa 6-0, and beat arsenal away ffs. I know we've had some shit results but this season was always gonna be a rollercoaster and we're doing ok.

May be a knee jerk but I won't be renewing until Ashley fucks off. What a shambles we are.

  2. If Nolan is out as reported then I'd go:

                     Krul

    Simpson Taylor Sol  Jose

    Routledge Barton Tiote Jonas

               Ranger Carroll

Think Ranger deserves his chance, Shola offered nothing this afternoon.

If Nolan is out I would agree. Routledge is a risk away from home but after the way he and Guthrie played I think it makes sense to play Barton through the middle and keep Routledge out wide. Chris Brunt is a big threat out wide however so Hughton might put Barton on the wing again to protect Simpson a bit more.

They've just had a big win after a poor run of results, they're as unpredictable as us.

Only thing I'd say is that Barton has played his best games for us on the right, and I'd personally put him out there again when he comes back.

Guthrie has been one of my biggest disappointments of this season so far. But if we need to keep the ball a bit more then he might be a better option. Harsh on Routledge like because yesterday he played well, particulaly with his confidence growing as the game went on.

  3. Im still bemused as to how he looks better in this league than the Championship

I think he's a decent defender but not that great going forward. When we were the best team in the Championship last year we needed him to get forward and be involved more. But playing in the premier league we need to soak up pressure a bit more and play on the break, so our tactics work to Simpson's strengths.

Still so happy with his form because I didn't have much hope for him this season.

  4. People say this every time it snows. You'd think it was some kind of unprecedented event in the UK.

Just seen the weather forecast on BBC fir this weekend. Heavy snow across Newcastle throughout tonight. With an early kick off very hard to see the match being on.

Prophet of Doom, pray could you tell me the last time a match, to be played in the middle of the day (12-4pm KO) was called off?

That's maybe because we're speaking from experience. Last season we had almost all games postponed one weekend. See http://www.premierleague.com/page/Headlines/0,,12306~1927520,00.html.

*cough*Bullshit*cough*  there's no Newcastle home fixture there, stop being  such a girl.

You asked for a match, if you meant a newcastle match then be more specific. Why do you think we would be more able to cope with the snow than the rest of the premier league?

And I'm not bothered by the snow, just don't trust the council/health and safety twats to let us play.

I'm sorry, I'm speaking in the Newcastle math thread about the likelihood of a Newcastle game being called off, I should have specified that I was discussing Newcastle home games. Sorry.

More importantly, the fact that the game is on SKY only increases the chances of it going ahead - JonnyHall is spot on. Council and club will be up at 7am clearing paths and roads, only a freak blizzard at 12pm would put the game seriously at risk.

People have mentioned the Charlton game being called off at the last minute, pitch was playable but the freezing weather at night was posing the H&S risk around SJP. It's to our advantage that the game is KO 1.30pm.

Well my point was that even Premier League games can still get called off. But whatever, I agree we must be doing all we can to get it on, bribe as many council officials as we can to get all their men around SJP!

  7. Boro  away

f*** that, I hope us and them never have to meet again, by that I mean they f*** off into nothingness and we stay Premiership quality.

I don't want anymore violence from meeting them.

Got stuck in a bit of a no man's land last year, took police with dogs to chase them away. Not after they had cut a boys head open by throwing coins. Funny how Boro at home is like playing a shit nothing team, but playing at their place has loads more bite to it.

  8. I'd take it right now, but would still be disappointed tbh. Just that going down would be so disasterous for us.

But then again, would 17th place to good enough to attract the quality of player that we need to improve next summer? I think if we can finish around 10-13th, then we would be a much more appealing proposition.

  9. No Terry, Lampard or Essien, three losses out of four, freezing cold day on Tyneside and a frozen pitch, 50 odd thousand Geordies screaming us on....

    ...still reckon 0-2.

At least it's less likely it's gonna be raping we could have had to endure. And who knows, a bit of luck and we might scape a morale boosting draw.
