  1. It'll raise over time. Probably don't want to rock the boat too much right now, but once your right back is on £100k, it's less of a gap to bring in a forward on £150k. Then further increases over time.

I think this policy will save us from some of the overpaid dross agents will be seeing us as an easy target for.

Bought that retro shirt, and its lush like, better then the actual home shirt, the quality is high. Wish the stripes where slightly thinner but thats a personal thing, everything else is great.

Bar the actual home kit, which isn't awful, and certainly not as bad as some of the dross served up by Puma, I really like Castore, the away and third kits are lush, and they have a load of different training, retro and other sorts of bespoke gear that pales in comparison to the cookie cutter stuff Puma farmed out. Just wish the price was about 25% cheaper

Need to sort out how shit the badge transfer is on the training kit. Looks even worse when the castore emblem is embroidered and the badge is a faded out iron on job!

gonna be hard to prove  all genuine cases.

and i bet "mates" come first.

I quit after Rafa left. Records of my season ticket and loyalty points are still on the system. Really hope this works in our favour.

'The previous manager' had an identical record in the Premier League on points over 2 full seasons*, but he didn't upset the local media and he appreciated the fans. The atmosphere with Wor Flags and all was overwhelmingly positive... little things like honesty and respecting the traditions of the club (at Everton Rafa was given a car recently, he made sure it was royal blue to appeal to the fans. Koeman the other year had red baubles on his Christmas tree and fans were upset with that) go far for keeping people onboard

*doesn't tell the whole story obviously but national media look only at the league table or points record to justify their opinions not the finer details

It drives me crazy that journalists don’t grasp (or would rather ignore) that Rafa left because the club could not realise it’s potential being run the way it was. Fast forward three years and he’s been proven right. Bruce’s focus year in year out is to try to match the level Rafa was never satisfied with, just so he can make some pointed remarks at the end of the season. And we’re all meant to happy achieving these ‘realistic’ heights!

  5. If we assume 25k fans are the 'I will go regardless, nobody will stop me going' type, 3k for away fans. I think we're seeing a very good proportion of those who can be reasoned with cancelling.

A half empty stadium, loss of interest from fans to watch on sky, no decent players wanting to come to a club with no direction, Bruce and Charnley leading the way...things are going to unravel really quickly. Ashley will be lucky to get half of his current asking price when all is said and done.

  6. It was worth a shot trying to get a refund for direct debit payments that I'd already made. Unfortunately I recieved this reply from first direct:

'As a Newcastle fan myself I feel your anguish, however we are unable to process a refund for a direct debit for what is a trade dispute.

We have set criteria which we follow for putting through a request for a refund which are restricted to the following -

Amount or date taken differs from advance notice given

customer cancelled direct debit with originator

Customer never agreed to direct debit.

Customer never notified direct debit payments would be taken.

Please contact the club directly to obtain a refund.'

  7. I finally cancelled my direct debit yesterday, just can't keep justifying support for Mike Ashley. Family and friends that I go with are also not renewing which made it a much easier call. I'm gutted, not relieved as I thought I would be.

  8. If you're on the 10 year deal with monthly payments can you just stop the direct debit to cancel your season ticket? Or will the club come back demanding payments?

  9. Did I hear right as well that he wasn't bothered about not being in control of transfers??

    I heard that.

He said it wasn't a problem, i.e. he's happy with his current level of control over transfers. It's the budgets and other issues he is concerned with.

  10. People love to criticize everything mind.

Seems perfectly sensible to wait until after the window closes. If the club isn't sold and players aren't bought protests will renew with some vigour and I'm sure more people will be willing to join in.

Yep. Also prevents Ashley from blaming fan negativity should a takeover not materialise. People responding to TMG with vitriol doesn't bode well for the future, mind.

Correct. It was going to be a pathetic attempt at a boycott, calling off is the best approach. Need to strike while the iron is hot with these things and in the end it all petered out.

If another disaster of a window goes by, which it will, form drops and Ashley remains, the appetite will be there again in February.

Not calling it in the first place would have been the best option imo. It being called off doesn't look good after its been announced, but it's a good excuse for a face-saving cancellation of it. It's more their integrity that's the worry now because they've essentially pissed off both sides of the boycott debate now.

Once there's a genuine appetite for it I'm sure it'll be forgotten though.

The Magpie Group needs disbanding now IMO. Their hearts are in the right place but cancelling protests after announcing them means they have lost their credibility. I wouldn't blindly throw my support behind them like I have done in the past.
