  1. Happy Birthday Kevin.... 29 today.

Imagne how slow he will be when he gets to 32/33. An Alan Smith scenario well dodged.

If he got any slower than what he is now he would just stop still! Fat Greedy Cunt!

  2. It all sounds far too much like Big Sam's got a big fat head theories to me!

John W Henry appoints Comolli ('The Moneyball of Soccer') and has now spent 80 million on Henderson, Carroll and Suarez. No real undervalued player arguably Suarez but 24 million is hardly peanuts.

What ever happened to the good old 4-4 f***ing 2?!

  3. Too old for what we are currently trying to set up at the toon!

Good goalscorer and a top player but i wouldn't be signing him!

Hope he doesn't go to some Turkish club though. Enjoy watching him in La Liga.

  4. I'm sure we have something in place because i remember Pardew talking about his backroom staff and the staticians in place along with their scouting system.

It was a good article to read but regardless of the stats, it's how your players perform on the pitch at the end of the day.

If Barcelona rip Man Utd/Arsenal apart, Fergie/Wenger can go and look for their fix of stats after the game all they like but it's not going to take away the fact what everyone's eyes had seen in that they were just completely outclassed regardless of what positions they put their players in to stop Xavi or stop throw ins/corners/freekicks happening.

Moneyball my arse! 'It's just bought Jordon Henderson for 20 million pound'!

  5. Would anyone else be worried that if we signed him, Marveaux and HBA we would have 3 too similar players to able to accommodate them into the one formation?

    Don't see how.

Marveaux's best position is on the left.

N'Zogbia's best position is on the right.

Ben Arfa's best position is in the middle.

Where does Jonas fit in? Or does he not count?  ???

    The bench

    :kinnear:

I fail to see what is so retarded about Jonas sitting on the bench if someone else is on the left wing like, but fair enough.

Because you now have Marveaux and Jonas sitting on your bench...would like to see your team sheet against Arsenal...promising stuff!

I was refering to Sewelly's formation, which is what you were asking about, I've never even suggested what I would personaly play, just what I think Pardew would do.

    But just to humour you:

                    Ba

                        Barfa

    N'zogbia Cabaye Tiote Barton

    No Jonas, no Marveaux.

Cheers for the laugh, come back when we see Barton on that right hand side again  :iamatwat:

  9. Don't think anyone could understand the transfer of Duff at the time, might have been 1 in 20 were for it.

I'd take Duff back now, been sensational for Fulham!

    Not in a million years.

    :fishing:

The Irish down syndrome kid is awful!

Not in a billion years... :celb:

  10. Fair enough but I bet if Pardew has a pecking order in that area at the moment it'd look

    Tiote

    Cabaye

    Gosling

    Guthrie

Actually as it stands he'd probably have Barton as number 3 there.

I have to agree, although we don't know how Gosling will return, i'd take his glimpses of quality and potential at Everton over Danny Guthrie's whole career at the toon in the Premiership!

  11. Celtic bid for Forster? .. ;/

Celtic have reportedly made a £1.5 million bid to land Fraser Forster on a permanent basis.

The Newcastle United goalkeeper spent last season on loan at Celtic Park, helping the club to a Scottish Cup win and runner's up spot in the league and league cup.

Forster returned to his parent club at the end of the season but Celtic manager Neil Lennon has now made a move to bring him back to Scotland on a long-term basis.

Lennon has been on the hunt for a new number one and appears ready to place his faith in the 23-year old, wh ohad 25 clean sheets in 44 appearances between the sticks last season. The Englishman had been prepared to fight for a first team place at Newcastle United, but may be prepared to return to Celtic and help in Lennon's pursuit of silverware.

Forster had been linked with a recall to Newcastle in the January transfer window as the club had an injury crisis halfway through his loan spell. He said at the time that he was not keen on going back as he wanted to be playing reguar first team football, adding: "Sitting on a bench is not something I want. The only way I will progress in my career is if I am out playing in front of big crowds."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said that he did not feel Forster had been tested enough during his time in Glasgow, making derisory comments abuot the standard of the SPL and leaving the player in doubt as to whether he had moved up the pecking order a St James' Park.

1.5 million...no chance! Suppose we could accept the bid and send Steve Harper up North in disguise  :shifty:

  12. Tony Adams is currently managing in Azerbaijan. I wouldn't get too worried.

I've still seen him appear from time to time!

I'm glad Gabala took him off our hands full time from punditry but i await his horrific return...

  13. sadly it is indeed bollocks

    TonyBarretTimes Tony Barrett

Andy Carroll got back from Ibiza yesterday - as I did - and trained at Melwood today - as I didn't. The arrest rumour is b******s.

Oh well amused me for all of 10 minutes...better luck on the next holiday or weekend in Liverpool!

  14. Mark Bolton was brilliant, that is an awful decision to sack him, they will replace him with someone like f***ing Tony Adams! Jokers!

    ???

Because they love getting the donkey on the Spanish coverage and he is absolutly shocking and i have no idea why he is on there!

  15. I feel like a 5 foot 9 athlete like Matuidi would be more useful in the air than a 6 foot lump of immobility.

... but might not fare too well against a 6 foot athlete.

Normally a team relies a lot on its centre backs with defending crosses and set pieces, and that isn't Colo's strong point, to say the least. Other players had to shoulder the responsibility last year.

Just looking at the team we're building, it seems to me nimble and skilful but not particularly strong in the air. I think we're looking for a third midfield player to go alongside Tiote and Cabaye, and we could do with a bit of balance.

It is a concern that we are losing some height through the team, although Marveaux looks quite tall, and Barnetta if he arrives looks similar. Whether they are any good in the air is another matter.

Well if they aren't good in the air they are going to be struggling, both aren't no taller than 6ft!

  16. The club can't know for sure if Marveaux will be a success or a flop, it's a free gamble, the club will still be unsure if HBA will get back to what he was and the club can't say for sure Ferguson will fulfill his potential, in Jonas we know what we are getting and until someone comes along and proves they have the required class for the prem to be in our starting 11 i see no reason to remove Jonas out of the equation. If we had signed Charlie instead of Marveaux i could see why Jonas would be eased out because we know what Charlie brings to the table.

Ok, still not getting the point about him only being able to play in what is looking to be a redundant position.

    Agree to disagree.

Yes apart from the fact you seem to think Jonas can only play Left Midfield and no other position which is slighly confusing because he is a fairly versatile midfielder in that regards.
