  1. he has the attributes, santon is one of a few players we got that can actually dribble and go past players, i dont see it in obertan, marveaux , raylor, . jonas can do it sometimes when he's not busy playing as our auxiliary fullback. obertan has the pace to do it but has no balls.
  2. he had some really neat touches and quick first touch passing in the first 20mins, was playing well and then arsenal stepped up their game we went into a shell and obertan turned back into a turd.
  3. i think he would very useful as a winger, left or right side. would be a better option than obertan. and when jonas gets injured he may get a chance on the left side as well
  4. lol i accept the lad is in a new country for less than a season but to blame his perfomances on language barrier? really?? i mean how many words of english do you need to know in a football match. lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shift_key lol get a life this is a football forum not an application for cambridge

its a fair point given the defenders we've got, can we expect to have such a great record. colo and simpson i think are good defenders, i know simpson has this compulsion of hoofball, but set that aside defensively he is capable. then what are we left with? no one else. Perch is a liability at central defence, Kadar? a kid we're not even going to bother giving him a new contract , that shows how good he is. Saylor injured. raylor, santon, perch are not really fullbacks. what we've got? fergie? unproven , heardly even get on the bench these days. its pretty horrible isnt it? What on earth are you talking about? talking about our lack of quality options in defence. not something i expect from you, to understand .

  8. we just about pulled it off vs qpr and got smashed by fulham, ive come to the conclusion we're just been completely sh1t recently, and there's no hiding from that lol regardless of what pards approach is. having said that, vs fulham we were playing Leon Best out wide, not a smart move by pardew.

-1 in goal difference, what does that tell us? either we're conceding too many goals, or we're not scoring enough?
  10. maybe your right, but we sure did set out to play a lot less direct vs spurs, did the same vs liverpool got whacked both times. we started the match last night very much like we did vs liverpool, we wanted to be less direct , and the second half we brought shola on and went two up top for a more direct approach. i disagree that we always set-up the same way, if we did , i don't think you would call that so much as a reactive coach, more like a one track minded and "we do what we do best so you deal with us" coach. Pardew is clearly better than that.
  11. agree he is a reactive manager but that makes sense considering there are a lot of sides that are attacking wise, technically better than us. As a manager you got to do something about that. My only major concern with him is that when we go to play sides which are quite beatable, we still play a too cautious approach, he still astounds me sometimes, like i can't quite figure him out. I don't know if it's his ego or he suffer the compulsion to fight fire with fire. We went to spurs and tried to play football. why? if he stuck to his usual game of setting us out to defend first and then knock some long balls to counter, would have made better sense, we're not going to out play spurs, yet went to play football and got battered. vs Stoke , you would think we would go there to play some football and keep it on the deck pass keep possession to stop stoke from their direct play, instead we went there fighting fire with fire, we out Stoked them with longballs all day and beat them. the man is a contradiction. sometimes i think he's completely clueless amd then other times he does things which goes against the grain and it works.

no, people need to understand this is the way pardew like us to play cautious and nick a goal or two. hence -1 goal difference we have. the fact that when your team's manager spends most the week on defence and then let the assistant deal with the attack, tells you what the team is about and its primary objective. It tells you that Pardew was a somewhat defensive player and has more knowledge to impart to the defensive players at NUFC. yep, hence why santon gets subbed for players like perch and raylor. lol

i think your too harsh way too harsh
  15. the facts are when got a player of walcott's pace and his team has the momentum and is also putting your defence and team under great pressure, as a defender the last thing you do is bomb forward with no regards. Isn't that how they were putting us under pressure in the first place? exactly, and by bombing forward compounded the situation. So you fear them to bomb forward yet chastise our own for having the balls to do likewise? i have no idea what your getting at, read what i write. you bomb forward when your team has the momentum. when the opposition is under pressure. their main threat was thier midfield and widemen and not their defence.

i hate this shocking interview with john carver “Every Monday he [Pardew] comes into work having compiled a defensive report on the opposition. That’s his project, working with our video analysts to provide players with the best information. “This week, for example, he will talk about Manchester City’s angles of attack, their set-pieces, their movement, as well as focussing on individuals. The lads will be made aware of Dzeko’s strengths and weaknesses, the best way to nullify Silva, Milner’s incredible work-rate, everything. “That takes care of Monday to Thursday. On Friday it’s my turn when we look at ways to get at opponents. Put simply, Alan concentrates on how not to lose and I then find ways to win.” http://www.nufcblog.org/2011/11/carver-on-pardew-and-the-way-newcastle-run-their-week/#.T16UKc5Gxok
  17. I think we are training too much on the defensive part of the game, would fit into Pardew's philosophy etc. this is why.... “Every Monday he [Pardew] comes into work having compiled a defensive report on the opposition. 18. I think that's all very true but other than Williamson a lot of it is self-inflicted by Pardew. Certainly Taylor in midfield and the full back situation could be tinkered with. I know people will say it's too risky but I would have involved Shane Ferguson a lot more this season at left back and switched Santon to the right. We might be a bit more vulnerable defensively but going forwards we'd be a different team. why are people so insistent on accommodating Santon into the defence? Leftside /Rightside. Because we must have attacking threat from the defence? We play 4-4-2 most of the time isnt that our winger's job?, is HBA not enough of a threat down the right side that we need Santon down the rightside as well? im surprised by you Tron. it's the job of both, you attack and defend as a team no shit.

  20. im sure most of you would have noticed how peculiar it was in the first half for pardew to instruct cabaye to sit the deepest while giving license for tiote to play a little further up. Shouldn't it be the other way round? Reminded me of the shambolic times of Glenn Roeder when he use to let Parker play further up and had Emre sitting deepest.

  24. I didnt say he played well. I was annoyed that people were making out perch was good. He got skinned un-necessarily a few times in that 2nd half which could have resulted in goals and the goal did come from that side. perch was skinned twice in the second half, true. santon wasn't even in position for more than ten times to even get the chance to be skinned in the first half. and skinned he was, when he did bother to stay in position. Dont try and use Perch to defend Santon. that doesnt work. if a player played bad, they played bad. A defender's basic, or should i say a footballer.s basic, "know your position".
  25. oh really im calling it like it is ,and you don't like it?, he had two shockers in a row, thats right. why should i pretend he had played well? if players like raylor and shola gets lambasted for every bad touch they've had then players like Santon should not be immune to any criticism.
