  1. well turning your nose up on a few competitions to concentrate on just two is not a bad thing. could mean more chance of doing well in those campaigns. lets be honest, whats the big deal about winning the fa cup or the carling cup, regardless of when we last won anything?
  2. well im suppose to say it can do more damage than good for your players, as they may almost see the competition as a chore rather than a blessing. with our injury record and the size of the squad it may hinder us, as i have reservation on how committed the players would be when they're travelling far to some eastern block country to play a team no one knows about. That may apply to the top clubs who are in Europe every year, but as things stand we're not one of them. thats true i guess, i dont believe many of our players has the chance of experiencing champ league, although i think quite afew have already played in europa league already. i dont think there is too much wrong in europa league if we play full strength but field weakened sides for the FA an carling cup. four competition is asking too much of us given our modest stength in depth. i know some will frown upon putting out weakened sides in fa cup but im not one of them.

  4. good post and a very valid question. im almost certain if we take our black and white glasses off and think about it. Playing in the europa league depending on how long we stay in it will no doubt hinder our league perfomances. pretty sure we wont finish as high as this season if we go through the long hull of the europa league but it will be good experience for some of our players that havent played in europe yet. it didnt do man city any good, liverpool or stoke , only team that faired well was man utd but they pretty much dropped out early on purpose because of that.
  5. April 12, 1999. Owen’s star was in the ascendancy after that goal against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup and a successful second season for Liverpool when the 19-year-old fell to the turf at Elland Road. ‘You’ve got three hamstrings and one was just totally ruptured,’ he says, raising his leg off the sofa to demonstrate the point. ‘It should be right the way down but one bit starts there, attaches there and the rest of it attaches there. I’ve got no hamstring in the middle. I’m basically running on two hamstrings on my right leg and three on the other. ‘That injury has probably changed my whole career. I’ve been compromised from the age of 19. it's funny why you left that bit out of your brochure ain't it , cock.
  6. yes we beaten barcelona Yeh I heard that Leon Britton was Xavi's heir elect. lol i was told they play in the same position as well
  7. there was no myth to be shattered, only the one you imagined. my game? what is that exactly? calm down dear, you are clearly emotional lol Not really; the better team won and the team that overall plays the better football won. I'm pretty indifferent towards everything but the result. You've been championing Swansea as a better team than us for months. i have mentioned they played nicer stuff compared to us. whats wrong with that, why does that bother you so much? It doesn't particularly bother me. Although it's quite embarrassing when a supposed fellow toon fan publically nails Pardew because we're not Swansea, like. i dont nail anybody because they are not swansea fc, lets not start making things up and embarrass ourselves by playing the famous "your suppose to be a fellow toon fan" card lol, i nail pardew when he gets things wrong. and players are not exempt from my vitriol either.
  8. Aye, that holding his position/tracking/intercepting as a secure defensive unit & not allowing Swansea any clear cohesive play near our goal was s*** I forget. I didn't see much if any of that, like. I recommend you pay more attention then, he was an important cog in an almost seamless defensive machine first half. I usually love Tiote away from home, but I thought he was anonymous and we looked better without him. It has to be a pretty outstanding 45 minutes for an 8, like. got to say i thought tiote wasn't himself yesterday. think the scouse game took alot out of him. he has been out injured dont forget. aye, thought the substitution was for injury wasn't it ? was that contributing to the performance. ? a bit of both i guess. first game he pretty much ran himself out against the scouse.

  12. ronaldos been in hasn't he. Surely talking about the side we beat isn't a massive stretch for a thread about the match they were in?! Problem is, some on here have spent the last 4 or 5 months projecting mythical qualities onto Swansea in order to make damning comparisons with our own play. In the last 14 days that fabrication has been undermined and, today, emphatically ripped to shreds in 90 minutes. Hope this is the end of it. i doubt thats going to happen it depends, there's still a good few matches to be won and lost. 1 game against our team is not really an actual judgement on swansea.
  13. swansea will have better days, they were'nt at their best today obviously. seriously its not like they got smashed 5 goals past them by a team like fulham. they'll have more days like that unless they adapt/improve. they;ve done well this season but ut was telling from rodgers's interview when saying they were undone bu the extra quality final pass and finish. he knows thats what they lack. ofcourse i cant see them persisting with routelegde and graham without adding more strength in depth. a few half decent signings can transform them into more potency.

  15. Don't know what the hell you've been smoking for the last month, like. Fair play, though. Last year should have said. Point still stands though. It really doesn't, though. Home wins against Arsenal and City are great until you consider they've only won another 4 games at home. Draws against Chelsea and Spurs mean nothing, to be honest. They've had a decent season. Plenty of teams have come up and done the same, before being relegated. It means something because it goes against the 'all possession, no end product' nonsense. They're getting very good results against excellent teams. Do you remember Spurs beating us 5-0? ronaldo's reply will be , "yah but we also manage a draw vs spurs" My team is 5th, unfortunately for you. Us drawing with Spurs has nothing to do with that excuse for a football team we played yesterday. fixed: my team is 5th but doth do protest too much
  16. blackpool attacked, they never passed to that much crazyness like the swans

  18. They're a horrible team to watch and a nothing club. horrible to watch ? thats cack. In your opinion it is. I don't enjoy that rubbish and thankfully we'll probably have to endure it another two times before they're back where they belong. what don't you enjoy about possession football and movement ? if i were a nuetral i'd rather watch swansea then much of what we played this season. Enjoy your Scott Parker football, it's f***ing s**** to watch and gets you f*** all in terms on impact in games. yet teams best results tend to come when they dominate possession and it's what YOU wanted when you were crying about hoofball. There's a difference between more passing on the deck and attacking with speed and technique and being direct which is what we all wanted its pleasing on the eye and its effective. Possession football ( atleast the Swansea version) is boring as hell and i would personally never want to see us playing it. Possession in the final third is what matters not passing backwards and sideways in the back 4 ....... Under Keegan we played some fantastic stuff and we never resorted to passing backwards and sideways more than whats needed which i personally always wanted to see ball on the deck but direct. This 70% s*** but hardly create any chances is personally not for me and i cant believe anyone here would want to see it. lol come on lets get real lets not make out like swansea fires blank every game judging by how they played in this one game they saw of them. ofcourse we thought they were boring because we weren't allowed to see our own team string 3 passes together. Not really i find possession football boring unless you have direct players to provide something different ( like Messi at Barca)....... and when i say possession football i mean pass to a stand still..... passing it backwards and sideways just to keep the ball. For the record i have watched Swansea on quite a few times this season and cant say watching them excites me. As already mentioned much rather see football on the deck but direct with your passes and trying to force the issue. Instead of keeping the ball to stop the opposition from scoring like Swansea do. i prefer that method of defending though if our team is ahead, rather than backs to the wall job and being ran ragged by the opposition. at least it takes a lot less energy out of your own team.
  19. you dont compare xavi with brittain thats like comparing steven gerard with lucas. or xavi with macherano they play different roles

  21. They're a horrible team to watch and a nothing club. horrible to watch ? thats cack. Rubbish. They are shocking to watch, may as well watch Stoke as they'll create double what Swansea did all game. difinitely a matter of taste, i personally prefer swansea's play over stoke.

    Alan Pardew

thats true. they came up here pretty much park the bus instead of their usual tippy tappy genius and got a draw. we were pretty awful that night, some might say we spanked them, but all we did was play direct attacking in the same manner over and over and their centre halfs ate them aerial assaults like candy.
