  1. same s*** different day. still absolutely no movement when our player gets the ball. watch Braga when they get the ball, there are players running towards the man that has the ball, making it easy to receive the pass, When we get the ball, watch every one of our players are running away from the ball or standing still, waiting for a longer pass.
  2. He probably got asked "what if Cabaye is to leave newcastle?" Full quote is: "He is a very good player, I have not changed my mind," Blanc told reporters. "For now, he is at Newcastle. "I read that Tottenham are also interested. I hope he will be at a big club come September." Yes but what was the question? Well reading the full quote i am going to say he was asked about Cabaye and a possible bid like you suggested Lol nothing wrong with what he said then. Just wants the best for a fellow countryman.

  5. I agree with this, especially the "Southampton are in a better financial position". We've been in the Premier League with more money from Sky, just been in the Europa for finishing 5th meaning more prize money. That's a dig or a excuse for seing s*** before we've played, i'm going with the former as much as it pains me. He can dig all he likes these are just half hearted sound bytes again to appeal to the fans like he always does. I'm not falling for it we all know on the inside how much he is smarting and in disbelief that somehow he is still in a job managing a club like nufc. Trust me he's smiling on the inside.
  6. f***ing hell, he's already shitting his pants about Swansea and Southampton. The season hasn't even started yet. Or he's pointing out what many on here have already mentioned about them spending money fairly well and improving their squad, hardly would say he's shitting his pants, i can see they've spent well but i still fancy us to finish above said teams. You are over estimating Pardew. I'm almost certain we will finish below Southampton and Swansea. I wouldn't say i'm overestimating Pardew, i've just got a lot of faith in the quality of our players to put it together on the pitch as a team. What has faith in the players got anything to do with it? It's like having faith in having a good car only to realise you got a complete inept halfwit behind the wheel.
  7. With Pardew in charge I'd be ecstatic if we can finish anywhere in the top ten again. That's how low my expectations are.

  9. We can give up hope on a front three of Remy Cisse hba vs Teams like Southampton, not enough tackles.
  10. Didnt arsenal stop winning trophies when Wenger began to invest in British? Arsenal weren't winning any trophies when they had a majority of English players under manager Bruce Rioch. It was Wenger who came in and revitalised them by bringing in a lot of French players like Viera and Henry. They had 9 English players in their matchday squad which beat us in the 1998 Cup final after all those years of hurt under Bruce Rioch. Anyway it's futile argument - some people would like some English/local representation, some people don't give a s*** as long as we turn a profit and stay in the PL. These opinions aren't going too change. As I have said I just find it a sad state of affairs for NUFC, NE football and English football as a whole. I'm in the camp of not giving a shit, as long the players give 100% on the pitch. When a bigger club comes along with more money they will leave in a shot makes no difference if he's English or foreign.

  12. being a regular on here I thought the default position was to blame our lot ? maybe using the evidence to hand on each occasion may make things more even. Or you could follow trends in our transfer behaviour which include targeting unsettled players which can lead to protracted negotiations if we're pinching pennies as we always do, and as a result quite often leaving ourselves short and sacrificing points until we get the deal done. transfer window behaviour ? like agreeing a fee for remy last january and (rumour has it) aubameyang a few weeks back ? admittedly we do take advantage of contract stuff (bloody well ope we would) but it's not the be all and end all. If a player's contract isn't vulnerable we're not interested in him. It's no way to built a team. remy and aubameyangs contracts werent vulnerable were they ? Aubameyang was out of contract next year if he'd stayed I think. De Jong bid We bid and he chose to go elsewhere, dont see what's funny. Mind you, you would have just complained he was foreign anyway. Probably best we didn't sign him. Pretty sure we were 'priced out'? But yeah dirty foreigners n all that - good point, well made. Needs more gifs though. I was only joking mate it was something you said recently that made me chuckle. With Luuk De Jong, i thought we bid enough but he went because the team he went to had Champions Leauge footy. Could be wrong but i thought that was it. Fair do's RE: the foreigner thing I grew up watching players I knew cared for the club; Kelly, Clark, Beardsley, Sir Les, Shearer, Speed, etc. Krul aside (& maybe a misguided Taylor but given his regular Pards/JFK comments not so sure) I don't see that in our first team. Anyhoo, speaking for myself I just wish we a little more diverse when it came to recruitment (nationality not an issue). I know we've all been made more than aware value is king but I think a few have bought in to this a little too much, even more so when we're pretty much chasing f*** all but being solvent as a football club these days. It's f***ing boring IMO. We go and sign English let's say someone from down south london, and then an Englishman from the north and one from the midlands. How do we know for certain they will care more about nufc than a foreigner?
  13. This Lyon president really is trying to cut his own nose to spite his face. He keeps f***ing around with trying to get out of paying this 5% fee he might just end up losing Gomis for free. I can't see any other club matching our bid plus an additional 5% on top for a player that in 6 months time they can freely negotiate with for a free summer transfer.
  14. Gomis turns 28 next Tuesday and will join a vast contingent of French players at Newcastle. From that perspective, he should not find any such difficulty in adjusting to the system of the club. Gomis is a strong, well-built striker whose playing styles are more-or-less similar to that of Didier Drogba, and hence he is often called the “Baby Drogba”. He likes to get on shoulder-to-shoulder with the central defenders when playing as a target-man. A generally good passer of the ball, like all other target striker, he likes to do lay-offs allowing other attacking players to get more involved in the game. The best quality about the Frenchman is his finishing. He is generally a calm finisher inside the box and his 16 goals last season are testimony of his goal scoring prowess. Newcastle badly needed a striker, having lost Demba Ba to Chelsea last season in the January transfer window and further failing to add any new striker to their ranks as replacement. His arrival will not only bring an extra body in the strike department but will provide support to and take the goal scoring burden off central striker Papiss Cisse. The question is – how will Alan Pardew use him in his system? Pardew is a different sort of manager – he is reactive and changes his system according to opposition rather than laying out a long-term vision/template for the club. This has led to some sort of inconsistency in terms of general progress of the club: In 2011-12, Newcastle were fifth from the top and one season later they are fifth again but this time from the bottom. One of the major criticisms Pardew faced in the last two seasons is his inability to use two strikers together effectively, ever since Cisse arrived at the club. The 4-4-2 system using Cisse and Ba didn’t work, so, either Ba was shifted on the left or Cisse was drifted on the right side to accommodate both of them, thereby limiting the potential of either of the strikers. Last season, Pardew used at least five different formations and gained some little success with the only 4-2-3-1 system using Cisse/Ba as a lone striker. He used Yohan Cabaye just behind Cisse in a 4-4-1-1 and tried that formation in two matches – as predictably lost out in both of them. Earlier in the season, the Ba-Gutierrez-Cisse upfront combo in a 4-3-3 system didn’t work too well for him either. He tried Cisse on the right wing in the 4-5-1 system and didn’t win a single match in four attempts, suffering three defeats in the process. And when he reverted back to 4-4-2 with Ba and Cisse, Pardew managed only three victories in 13 attempts, which included seven defeats. Of course, there were other factors too for Newcastle’s poor performances, like too many players joined in January and not all of them could adjust well, injuries to several key players, loss of confidence – but one thing was certain – Pardew couldn’t use his strikers effectively. Now, Gomis is a typical target man who plays as a central striker. He is well comfortable in any formation that doesn’t force him to change his natural position. He played in 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3, 4-4-2 (alongside Lisandro Lopez), 3-4-2-1 and 4-1-4-1 respectively – and in every case he was the focal point of the attack. The best way to use any target man in a 4-2-3-1 system (since used by both Pardew and Remi Garde to large extent) is to complement him with a versatile attacking central midfielder. In Lyon’s case, it was Arsenal-target Clement Grenier. The Frenchman is a brilliant player, who is creative, makes the timely runs in the box, likes to link-up play with the strikers and other attackers (mainly the wide players) and can play as defensive central midfielder as well, when needed to drop deep. Gomis and Grenier combo worked very well last season and the performance against Marseille comes to mind, where the striker had notched up a hat-trick which arguably was his best performance of the season. Post January, Moussa Sissoko was deployed in the hole in the 4-2-3-1 formation for Newcastle, and the Frenchman didn’t disappoint. Pardew can think about forging a strong partnership involving the duo, similar to what Gomis did with Grenier at Lyon. Gomis also did well in a 4-4-2 formation, though Garde used the system only thrice in the entire season, where he won twice and drew once. Nowadays, most managers abandon this old-school formation, rather there is a trend of using its variations to accommodate more quality midfielders as keeping possession has become a key ingredient in modern football. At soon to be 28, Gomis is no longer a baby, but he can replicate the success earned by Drogba in the Premier League. He has the potential, but he needs right type of players beside him and the system to go with it. Therefore, if Pardew wants to squeeze out the best from him, he must play him as a central forward. Further, his primary task will be not to find a way to accommodate both strikers or buy further strikers to make a mess of everything, but to find solutions of how to use their forwards together and bring out the best from them. http://soccerlens.com/bafetimbi-gomis-the-baby-drogba-of-newcastle/113058/

  16. Pardew: Mike can’t afford to save us from another relegation Speaking exclusively to Sports Direct News, Alan Pardew saluted Mike Ashley’s “bravery” in saving Newcastle United from the Championship, but also suggested that he may not be able to do it a second time should the club be relegated again. He also revealed that without the handicap of European football in the coming season, though his first aim will be to avoid relegation, he will be ambitious and go for a top ten finish or possibly even higher. Though how he could aim higher than the top ten, he didn’t explain. “I think realistically we should look to finish in the top ten and hopefully get ourselves in a position where we can attack higher than that” said the Silver Supremo, adding: “When it gets to February we’ll have a clearer indication of where we’re going to be.” Pardew then spoke of how it is relief from the pressures of European football, along with good players which has enabled him to aim so high after last season’s disappointing 16th: “We’ve not got the pressure of the Europa League this season so you would expect us to have a high finish in the league because we have a good team and a lot of good players.” Moving on to how it is imperative that the club avoid a second relegation after a near miss last season, Pardew then continued on how it was Mike Ashley’s “bravery” which saved the club from the second tier, though he omitted to mention the minor roles played by his prececessor, Chris Hughton, and the players themselves. Pardew explained: “The bottom line for any Premier League club other than the top six is survival. You need to stay in the Premier League to make sure you secure the funding that pays for the squad and all the staff we carry. “This club got relegated three years ago (it was actually four years ago – wt) and was in a bit of a mess but it was Mike’s bravery that got them back into the top division yet there was a huge financial cost. We can’t afford to do that so the first priority is staying in this league. Make no mistake about it. Finally, he stressed the need to carefully manage the expectations of fans of a big club such as Newcastle, stressing that expecting a finish in the European places for a second season in a row was always unrealistic. On this he concluded: “When you’re at a club as big as Newcastle you have to be careful with expectation. When we finished fifth last year [in 2012] with the Europa League as well people were predicting us to have a similar sort of finish. I don’t think that was ever realistic to be honest.”

perfect. he's going to spurs then. Dempsey is apparently on the verge of transferring to the MLS.
  18. “@WhoScored: Bafétimbi Gomis: Only A.Di Natale (70) was caught offside more times in Europe's top 5 leagues last season than Gomis (62)” #OL Cisse has competition there.

He wants us to buy him instead, “If he was to go, someone will have to pay for him. He has a buy-out clause, and we want our money back.”

Won't do him too much harm at all the wage packet would soften the blow, don't forget many of our own players have done it, it hasn't harmed colo's international prospects that much I don't think or his club career.

Really so if a player never gets to play in the World Cup , would that mean they never had a career? Or is it just a bit part career? What about the players that quit international early to prolong their club careers? A player that puts his bank balance and career before World Cup. Yeah that is really rare. Does not make them a bad person and very understandable I say. That does not mean they don't want to go the World Cup my friend , it's just about their priorities.

I'm sure he's crying in his sleep, 80k a week and no World Cup . Oh the pain. I'm sure he was worried about his France future when he decided to join qpr. He'll be getting paid maybe £15k a week more than he'd get elsewhere to forgo his chances of going to the world cup, I'm sure he's chuffed When he signed for QPR I'm sure he thought that he'd either stay up with them or move this summer with no problem at all (hence the relegation release clause). Either way he'd be fine to still get into the France squad if he performed well. I doubt he expected to get done for rape and possibly be stuck in the Championship which gives him almost no chance of being selected. If you reckon he just isn't bothered about playing for France in the biggest Football event on earth you're mad IMO. I'd be absolutely amazed, nobody will take that kind of gamble on a possible rapist. I must be mad then, extra 15k a week on top of 65k and a well deserved extra long summer break in the holiday destination of my choice. Come back the next season fresher than the rest. Ah man that's just mad. Yeah mate, its f***ing bonkers, seriously. You may not be bothered about the World Cup but Footballers tend to want to go like. They only get a certain number of chances to play at them and they have every other summer to go on holiday and plenty more time for that when their very short career ends. Watch how they play, I'd say majority of them don't give two hoots, of course not many would admit to that in public as its taboo. Champions league these days is the top tier of football. Not World Cup.
