Just wish we'd stop giving it to Simpson or Williamson. They're playing right into Stoke's hands with their long ball. -

Begovic, Wilson, Huth, Shawcross, Wilkinson, Shotton, Whelan, Palacios, Etherington, Walters, Crouch -
He's a young player who had a massive and very serious injury. It is going to take a while for him to get into good phsyical shape and he has not really had a chance to gain match practice. From a physcological view point it can't have been easy either. There are definitely some useful qualities in him, I think if he stays this summer he'll end up playing a lot of Uefa Cup football and hopefully he'll manage to assert himself on the squad.
-
A lot of changes. Is Essien finished?
-
I think he's a good defender and to his credit he's always been fit and in good shape. From a technical and offensive view point, we can improve on him.

I have seen this fella a few times in France and I think he's a very good player. He has a lot of output, he's very efficient and this is present in nearly all of his play - his passing, his crossing and his shooting. I hope his pace hasn't been hampered too much but he always used to be very quick off the mark and very mobile, thus giving him an advantage to the ball ahead of opponents. He's also very diligent at tracking back and a good worker. He'd do well in a midfield trio in my opinion, perhaps as the advanced option, and he could play in any kind of wide role. Very happy to have him back, reckon he may get a cameo at Everton and then hopefully will drive to impress over pre-season and assert himself for next season's campaign.

Viduka was an extremely talented player, he didn't look after his body. A real shame. I like the look of Chris Herd too, wouldn't mind him if we could get him on the cheap as a 'utility option'. Good centre half and a good defensive midfielder.
-
They have very little flair- probably only Sessegnon. The rest is just pure graft filler, but I imagine O'Neill loves 'getting to work' with his British workers. I'd expect more of the same in the summer. A few were moaning on RTG about his refusal to drop Craig Gardner but it should be no surprise. He's a player who is happy to chase shadows and put his body on the line to block shots etc and has the ability to score from 30 yards now and again. MON will love him when they've got ten men in their half at home to Fulham and get a lucky break up field. Awful, predictable manager. In terms of quality they're actually regressing. At least under Bruce in his first few seasons they had a handful of decent players. Bent was a danger with pace and got goals, Gyan was tricky and full of flair, Mensah and Cana were good players when fit. I think it's going to get worse under MON in terms of personel, I wouldn't be looking forward to next season if I were them.
-
The worst part for me was that it was always sort of inevitable that he would fuck it up for us.
-
As much as I loved Shearer as a player, I think we should have started using him off the bench that season. Kluivert and Bellamy should have been given time to develop and gain an understanding. We could have had another good eight years out of Bellamy, the way Souness dismantled our team and replaced them with players so much worse was upsetting to watch.
-
Aye. He's happy to get forward and overlap the winger but he's not really very efficient at all. His output was always below par for us.

I can't see Ba staying if PSG come in, he has stated his desire to play the club he supported as a boy. I think we can replace him though, we're probably already working on it. Doubt there is much truth in that Chronicle article, other than Zaha who will be expensive and British, none of the other targets have experience playing as a wide forward. I doubt we could trust him with his fitness record but whenever I saw Marveaux in France he was excellent, I'm sure he could do a good job on the left. Hoilett would be my choice. Would love to see Gameiro here, it does not seem to have turned out that well for him at PSG. Splendid player- a more polished Hernandez. No chance sadly!

It's like Everton's late season revival, where does it come from? Wigan look very decent on their day, but on cold November afternoons they look Championship material.

I really do feel for Connor. He's got such a poor squad to work with too, the only player from there who I think has any real quality is Fletcher. The rest are without much ability, pure grafters. Wolves friend of mine says their fan base have accepted relegation for weeks.
