We play 4-4-2 because it's easier to double up on wide players. I agree about getting overrun but we were in most games last year, Pardew has confidence in the fitness and athleticism of Cabaye and Tiote to make up for the numerical disadvantage.

Raylor Apart from the FK pretty poor so far. We're keeping it fairly comfortably but we're struggling to progress it, Gosling isn't really dropping deep to link up with Anita and Bigi in the same way Jonas or Cabaye would, he's very much like Nolan and just wants to get up field. Obertan I won't mention.

Jarvis is having a medical at West Ham. £3m player at best IMO.

Yep I would have Gosling there too. Impressed in pre-season and our only real midfielder who looks to get up the field and into the box.

I must admit I do quite like seeing Harper 'part of the group' again in Europe. I think his knowledge and leadership could be vital when he travels with us.

Wright-Phillips won't be playing for them, definitely not good enough. Same with Barton in the middle, Faulin and Diakite would be better options too IMO. Green, Bosingwa, Dawson, Carvalho, Fabio, Park, Faulin, Diakite, Hoilett, Zamora, Cisse- should unfortunately be good enough to secure their survival.

Constant pressing and hassling high up the pitch is definitely the way to combat Man United and exploit their soft centre. We did exactly the same in January.

Cabaye will play IMO and Anita will replace him for Chelsea. Something like: Krul, Tavernier, Williamson, Perch, Taylor, Amalfitano, Gosling, Cabaye, Marveaux, Vuckic, Ameobi (whichever is fit)

I don't think the problem in the first half was the centre halves' distribution, we didn't have enough options once it got into the feet of Tiote and Cabaye IMO. No striker really dropped off to receive the pass and Spurs were really pressing well.

It's going to be eleven changes though, we really can't afford to play anyone who we want to take part in Chelsea with the tiny gap between games. As Pardew says, league is the priority.

He got into a stride in the second half, it seems to me he plays much better when we have a tempo going. Covered loads of ground and was too difficult for Spurs to control at times. I can see why we use 4-4-2, but I think he'll look even better in a 4-3-3 with more midfielders around him.

I think it will be like the team that faced Hartlepool in pre-season. Really cannot imagine Colo or Cisse starting, anyone who starts won't play against Chelsea basically.

I think he's getting frustrated when he's hitting these awful long balls. We need someone dropping deep to collect.

Pretty poor. We're off the pace, Cabaye looks particularly so. We're trying to pass it out but it's hard in a 4-4-2- Tiote and Cabaye have never really functioned together so both are deep and there is no advanced player to play into. Ba is not a natural at it in my opinion. We'd look better with Anita on and Cabaye pushed up.

Simpson has to come off at HT. Worried he'll be sent off :/

HBA has been great, really nimble whereas Cabs looks off it.

Anita replaces Tiote.

Simpson booked against Bale. Not great with them looking likely to hit us on the break again.
