I can only see us buying a Left Back or a cheap Right back cover now. They won't buy a new CB as they just bought Mbemba and see Colo as starting captain first name on team sheet. Then got Taylor, Williamson and Laschelles as cover. They might line up a good left back, and it might be a tactic of buying thauvin and the others first to show the new LB we mean business etc?

I'm a bit gutted tbh, thought he never had a chance playing in his preferred place in his preferred system. Think with some time and confidence he could of been a good player for us, likeable guy as well hope he does well back in France.

remember this is their first game together, he doesn't speak english etc so once Colo is fit enough to actually train as well they should get better together I hope. He looks great though, kid can wear a Tux as well!

don't forget Southampton have played a few competitive games as well so were far less rusty than we were, not like we had a great pre-season either..

noone else on the bench other than Tiote who could replace Anita and keep the formation the same really. Think De Jong for Anita, and Aarons for obertan at the same time might of been better, with Colback dropped deeper into Anita's position and de jong playing a more central position. either way, a point, and a lot of positives. as they play more games and have more time together, they should improve a lot, that was nicer than anything I think we saw last year so on the whole - happy (ish).

in fairness to Colo, he's hardly had any pre season minutes, and has just played a tough 95 minutes.
