Its because (for me) he is the only striker of that type we have got (apart from Murphy but given his strike rate I would rather start Mitro) and Gayle/Diame isn't working. Plus as said above in his only start this season we won 6-0, so I think he at least deserves a few more before we write him off . Play him with Gayle/Perez in the number 10 slot and see how we do.

Ironically this was one of the games where playing Gayle up front looked pretty effective, there were enough chances created to have scored half a dozen and he should definitely have had at least one. I sort of agree I've been quite critical of Gayle up front on his own this season but at least today he managed to get into a few good positions.

Agreed. Cant understand why he insists with one up front. Diame is in very poor form and needs to take a step back for a bit. Bring him on later in a game or something. You would expect to be on the front foot most of the time. Put them under pressure. Gotta try it at some point. Literally all of the strikers are in p*ss poor form. There's literally no discussion to have about formation though, Rafa has never and will never play two up top. So the defiance I said is true. We won't go up comfortable if his stance isn't altered. You can't play the same format all season you'll get found out, like sides are starting to see. Oh it's Newcastle who chuck a midget up top on his own, and stick with 4231 all the time, f***ing 2 holding midfielders is nearly as bad as one up top in this league. Keegan gung ho please....... 4231 would work if we had someone in the AM position who would properly support Gayle. I like the formation, but we dont really have an alternative to Diame, and with Diame our striker is isoloated. Personally I'd switch to a 2 striker system until Jan and then buy someone like Judge who would provide a little more creativity in the final third.

Whilst we should still be around the top two, we are in no way majorly better than anyone at the top end of the league. Going to be a battle all the way. Don't agree with this. Only one of the two teams playing today will be challenging for promotion. We were clearly the better side we just need to fix our strike force

Exactly the same problems we've had in every game bar qpr. Diame and Gayle doesn't work. Our defence were excellent, we bossed the game for the first 70 minutes. But we didn't score from open play again (own goals don't count)

It's been close between them. We've had a few seasons now of watching s**** forwards. I'm not a fan of gale up top on his own but I think he would be a lot better if in diames position we had someone who actually had some work ethic and flair. At the moment he's too isolated

He doesn't run, he creates nothing. He's in to link the play and follow up to Gayle which he's doing fine. End product just isn't there. For a player in his position I would expect a lot more. We need to sign a replacement for him in january

Is it just me or are there fuck all clean sheets in the league this season? Only one today was fucking Bournmouth. Luckily I have a Bournmouth player on the bench whose going to play because none of my 3 fucking strikers are playing. Kane injured, Gray suspended, Ihaneacho benched because I forgot to take him out this week.

Lovenkrands is a riddiculous comparison he was an aging player who'd spent the majority of his career in the SPL when we signed him.
