Well if Brentford finish bottom next season with one of the worst points totals in PL history than that’d be a fair comparison.

I’m not really even arguing against you, Toney looks to be a great prospect and would agree a better one than Mitro. Just wanted to point out that your comment Mitro had ‘never got anywhere near’ Toney’s season this year wasn’t quite correct.

Can a 26 yo really be described as a great prospect?

    Who’s second choice?

He has also played quite a lot of games on the right.

Alvarez. He only played on the right as City preferred not to operate with a striker and rotate their AMs regularly (which is also damning that Jesus couldn't even hold down a CF position ahead of De Bruyne and Foden). Pep won;t be playing him next season and I think Jesus himself has said he might need to move on.

Would have thought DCL and Jesus are both not for sale. And Arsenal aren’t exactly going to make an offer they can’t refuse.

Of course Jesus is for sale, he's gone from their only striker to City's third choice. I'd be surprised if he doesn't leave.

  4. There's a very real chance we finish two points off 8th place assuming Wolves lose to Liverpool. Insane.

I think thats a bit unfair, you could also say that had we started Gayle in Woods place since January we wouldnt have won any of those games either. Wilson without doubt has a massive upside on Wood, on ability and being suited to this side/the style Howe has them playing but using Wilson being better as stick to beat Wood with is harsh [emoji38]

You might be right mind, Wilson did make a huge difference last night.

I'm not talking about any of the other games (in which I thought Wood has played an important role). I'm talking specifically about Wilson's performance last night.

Lad is running through bricks for us.

The couple of tackles/fouls he made on people twice his size while running back at full pelt were immense

  7. He was massively, massively exposed because of ASM. I don't understand it as ASM was tracking back quite a bit in the first half for Manquillo.

We shouldn't offer him a new deal. Ability alone I would keep him as a squad player but he's never fit for more than 10 games a season and he just takes up a squad place and wages. I'd buy Targett and keep Manquillo as back up and focus on other positions for the rest of the summer. Obviously if we can also bring in a top class LB as well then great.

If there was a Chris Wood song it didn't come through on my stream and I haven't seen it on social media anywhere. Perhaps the variety of fans affects that but I still think it's naff. Probably an unpopular opinion but I personally think 'who's that team called united' is shite. Admittedly, probably because it's all we seem to ever sing and I've just gotten bored of it. We sing it during and at the end of every single game. Alongside the following

Blaydon Races (at absolute light speed)

    A player's name repeated

    Eddie Howe's B&W army

    Toon Toon B&W army

    Newcastle (repeated)

I understand that some of those are staples but can we think of nowt better? Why doesn't Saint-Maximin have a song yet? Will Bruno get a song which isn't just 'Bruno' repeated over and over? Even Callum Wilson's chant is just Shearer's chant that we've always sung. One thing I admire (probably the only thing) about Man Utd's supporters is they still sing songs for old players like Cantona, Best, Rooney, Ronaldo before he came back this season et cetera. Why can't we? Sing the Terry Hibbitt on the wing song, we've got Mirandinha, chants about Ginola, Robert et al if we had any. Just makes it a tad more interesting.

The variety of fans though certainly affects the prevalence of the shit songs I mentioned like 'don't take me home' and that. Those songs are the fucking pits.

I think who's that team we call United became really popular during Rafa's time as a bit of a symbol of resistance against Ashley, so I still like it. Old players do get a run out still tbh, Coloccini and O'Brien pretty much every game. I agree there's not much about the Keegan era players though.

Can’t see this one happening. They have no reason to sell right now.

Agreed. Would love to be wrong but I think people are reading something into the SkyBet thing when it's just a coincidence. Looking here:

Sven Botman Club After January Transfer Window Betting Odds | Football | Oddschecker

The majority of bookies have already removed that bet not because betting has been suspended but because it isn't relevant anymore, like they do with all transfers. He's 1/50 on to stay at Lille in one bookie that offers it.

The only interesting point is that he's 9-1 to go to Newcastle at one, but 4-6 on at two others. There could be something explaining that difference...

Thought he looked ropey the first half hour or so. Harrison had him on toast a few times. Harrison was basically a non-factor after that, though.

I think there must have been a slight change in approach from him, Fraser and Willock after that. As we didn’t look so exposed second half. They just put everything down our left, instead!

Clearly has a lot of class and know how about him. Some of his passing and getting out of tight areas is superb.

Leeds fans singing ‘greedy bastad’ to him? Not even much of a pay rise from Atleti, was it?!

They were singing that to Chris Wood man [emoji38]

They just weren't. The average current league position on the first 10 teams we played = 9.5, the next 10 = 10.4

    First 10 - 5 home 5 away, next 10 - 6 home 4 away.

    First 10 - 3 games against current top 6, next 10 3 games against current top 6.

Ok, we have undeniably had are two most difficult fixtures so far back to back in the latter 10, but then we've also had the three easiest.

By every objective measure there's either very little difference between the sets of fixtures, or that the latter set were a bit easier.

I'm sure you will stick to saying that there were "certainly easier", that's how the internet debates go, and I accept it's really a subjective thing, but I can't see anything to objectively back up what you are saying.

As people have already mentioned to you, it's absolutely pointless looking at their current league position now, given that the likes of Wolves and Villa are completely different teams now (and currently much higher up the leage) to what they were when we played them. To be honest I still don't know why you are trying to apply this metric when it's obviously a pretty worthless exercise.

The objective fact is that we have played 6 of last season's top 8 under Howe, and 2 under Bruce.
