Not to my tastes as a football manager but his passion for the game shone through regardless . Never heard a bad word said about him . Seems to have been a thoroughly decent man. That's sadly becoming a rare thing these days and we could all do a lot worse than have that as our epitaph.

I think that he's unfortunately in a addictive cycle of breakdown and recovery . It's reinforced by when he's very ill there seems to be more press, more public support and celebrities rallying around him. When he's very well a lot of that disappears. It's like he's never learned to just be Paul Gascoinge. Not daft as a brush Gazza or Gazza the footballer or Gazza the alcoholic. It's difficult to watch and hard for people to understand when he's had so much help and support. Every-time I see a story with a Gazza headline I dread reading it as I think this is going to be it. I hope he can beat this, I really do .
