I do find parts of this interesting

"The government has taken care of its own during the pandemic in ways that Americans can only dream of: It has paid to fly Saudis from around the world back home, quarantined them in hotels at government expense and subsidized up to 60 percent of the salaries of private-sector workers.

Saudis face hardly any layoffs; the kingdom has also offered interest-free loans, electricity discounts and other stimulus aid."

Sounds better than we get from ours, to be honest

Agreed. In certain sectors they appear to look after their own.

  2. Exactly, if you want to just keep it to football, then just talk about football and what potentially could happen and leave the Saudis out of it.

If you want to start discussing the Saudis and their intentions then people are entitled to debunk what you've said

You say debunk, but disagree probably works better, as its people’s differing views, not those being wrong and you being right.

When someone does something like conflate the Saudi State who are buying us, with the UK government who aren't, or they conflate private Saudi investors who bought Sheff Utd with the Saudi state who are buying us, that's a differing view but it's still also wrong like.

    You spelled cornflakes wrong

  3. The Saudis being allowed to sell petrol in this country is much worse than them being allowed to buy a football club, given how much of their wealth and power comes from oil.

    It's not whataboutery, its hypocrisy.

It's not worse at all. Petrol is until recently pretty much a necessary thing that has been in people's lives forever. When you buy petrol there also isn't a Saudi flag on the pump telling you to visit Riyadh, you don't know where it's coming from.

The second this goes through Newcastle Utd will become Saudi Arabia United

Will we be allowed to play internationals?

  4.

RTG is about to have an existential crisis

    OOF!

Actually to be fair to him he has said some decent things since the takeover first came out.

Probably takes his mind off planning bank jobs for the missus.

  5. Was convinced it was done, but these stories look like leaks from the PL paving the way for a rejection......hope I'm wrong.

Our sliding doors moment, and once again it's defeat rescued from the jaws of victory.....this is NUFC, this is how we roll.

It’s a done deal. No worries!  Just a bit of conjecture and discussion threads thrown around to brighten people’s mornings.

Remind us of your information again? What is it that you know?

My pal is good mates with someone on the selling side. He told me when it first broke that they expected completion around the middle of May. Mainly due to covid not fit and proper. I put the bite on him again last week and was told no change.  Take it as you will.

  6. This Guardian article is just a load of hot air from Journalists with not much to write about (about football) at the moment. There's just "us" and "Project Restart", and nothing else.

SO . . to all of us (like ME) who were certain our Takeover would be announced and confirmed this week, before this "Guardian Panic", just go back to feeling (knowing) that is the case . . because IT IS, AND THIS IS THE WEEK !!!!!!!!!!

    Or next week
