I’d say for this window we don’t really want to be taking risks and probably need to go for the more expensive solid/reliable picks for RW/CB. We then have a pretty strong team/squad which gives us the base to look at more risky (cheaper) signings in future windows.

I like Longstaff. But the last thing he needs is another season sitting on the bench.

just playing, but for for 2 quality RW's you could always go: Sane £0 (£225k p/w wages? but still much cheaper than Mbeumo overall), Dibling £50m, Wissa £30m (ST/LW), sell barnes £40m. For a net spend of £40m. Plenty of cover for the 3 attacking positions and still plenty left for other positions. TBH, too many options out there to get hung up on specific players. Comfortable the club will get it right whatever they do. As long as we get a quality CB, RW and cover ST I’ll be happy. Anything else a bonus.

I’d be more than happy with mbuemo for RW, but he doesn’t solve the back-up striker problem for me. He’s a quality RW and an ok CF (similar to Gordon I guess). But If isak gets an injury or needs a rest then we are going in with an ‘ok’ CF and Murphy at RW. Not a big enough step forward in squad depth for me. We’d probably still need a wissa, delap or even a DCL to have proper cover tbh. Interesting to see which way they go.

I’d say that’s pretty much spot on. Only tweak would be to add someone like walker-peters to cover right and left FB as we do look a bit a thin there. After that there so many possibilities that could be done to strengthen the overall squad. Could sell willock as well and gamble with 5 CM till January if it helped us afford better quality players now. (Could always go to 2 man midfield with either 3 at back or a no.10 if we hit an injury crisis). Selling Murphy while his value is high might be the sensible thing to do. Selling barnes and bringing in Wissa as cover LW/CF is an alternative to the standard RW/CF combo people keep talking about. (Better CF than Mbuemo and a lot cheaper). A big window ahead with loads of options. Whatever they end up doing, I’m pretty comfortable that we’ll likely start next season with our strongest team/squad in my lifetime. 🤞

Yeah, he’s been excellent this season at LB but wouldn’t be surprised if LCM ended up as his best position for us.

Not a great performance. But happy with a point.
