  1. Its hard to see him staying if that is how he feels. I think he should just come out after the Southampton match and just say he is going to leave at the end of the season. These contract negotiations are proving to be a waste of time. The club and Benitez are miles apart in ambition and how the club should operate. That said if his desire was to win the Champions League again I don't know why he came to Newcastle in the first place even with ambitious owners its very difficult to break the top 6 consistenlty never mind competing for the Champions League. He says he is not looking £200 million to spend, but thats the sort of money you need to compete with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea who spent £70 million on goalkeepers and that is just never going to happen at Newcastle.
  2. That headline. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/apr/19/wayne-hennessey-is-desperate-to-learn-about-the-nazis-roy-hodgson-crystal-palace
  3. I have said it a few times, but I would go for Marco Rose at Salzburg if Benitez leaves. I would rather Benitez though, but he will always push the club to do things better.

To be fair I think the money would be used to make upgrades to the training ground rather than build a new training ground.

If that's a bad year, then what does he consider relegation? He kind of contradicts himself when he says this has been a good season despite us being 15th in the league.
  6. It sounds like a decent budget, but if we got £40 million from players Benitez would only be able to spend £20 million of it because it will come in instalments and we only spend what we have. I might be stupid, but I just don't get how paying up front for transfers, but accepting instalments for player sales give us an advantage it feels like it leaves us with less money to spend.
  7. I feel the same way. I thought there was a small chance of him staying, but the club are not prepared to change their ways. Even if Benitez signed a new contract they would just continue to frustrate Benitez in how they do business. I'm not surprised, but its extremely arrogant by the club to continue their failed ways of doing things when it has been proven twice to not work and then they cry about the clubs financial position when its their decisions as to why the club is in such a position. A £50 million budget along with player sales is just not enough for quality the squad needs to move away from always fighting relegation battles.
  8. The decision was made faster then I have seen goals ruled out before VAR. In the home game when Spurs scored there was the normal roar. They checked Son’s goal and when it was confirmed there was still the roar. I’m sick of s*** decisions against us, if VAR has been about a few seasons ago when Aguero scored here, we’d have probably stayed up and who knows what Rafa could have been able to do building from that point rather than a Championship campaign? I just want the right decisions now. The second paragraph is spot on.
  9. If it stops Griezzman doing his stupid Fortnite celebration I'm all for it.
  10. I'm going for a Barcelona vs Ajax final because it has the strongest narrative, but my head tells me it will be Liverpool vs Spurs.
  11. I think serious questions are going to be asked of Guardiola now regarding his Champions League record. He hasn't reached a final since his Barcelona days which is poor when you consider the squads he has managed since then.
  12. It could if they got rid of the away goals rule.

  14. I agree VAR is shit now, but its needed in football.
  15. I have a feeling there is going to be a last minute penalty for Man City.
  16. Its better than Man City winning. I want Sterling, Aguero and De Bruyne to win it. I like Sterling, but the other two I just hate for some reason even though they are great players.

  18. I can't even watch it because of Virgin Media in Ireland.
  19. I'm a romantic and have fallen in love, again, with Ajax. So want them to win Champs league. Now that's a team to get behind. Players most have barely heard of playing brilliant off-the-cuff football and achieved with a spending budget that's probably lower PL level. Before they all move to f***ing Bleurca Its apparently lower than some Championship teams which makes Ajax reaching the semi finals even more impressive.
  20. Man City going through is depressing.
  21. Its a bit early to shut up shop.
