  1. but I recalled towards end of season when Gordon was suspended, Barnes played quite well and kept his place even when Gordon became available again?
  2. I have a feeling that this will happen. Isak has not signed a new contract and I think it is fair to say he is likely to leave by next summer unless we do incredibly well next season. So the club is looking to sign his eventual replacement. Ekitike fits the bill.
  3. I think it is fair to say Trippier's case was very much an exception due to his circumstances. Gallagher too might want to return to PL and could consider us. Realistically the chances are slim but I would be quite happy if he decides to join us. Seems he had a decent season in La Liga, and I remember he was actually one of Chelsea's best players in his last season there.
  4. last time he was linked quite a lot of us wanted him and thought he would suit our style. But there was no indication he wanted to join us. Tbf, if you read the Elanga thread at the start of the window lots of people were like meh before transfer speculations intensified and that by pretty much all accounts he’s interested in the move. Fans’ opinions change quickly since the dawn of time.
  5. That is possible i guess. Hopefully he will see that he’ll be a good fit for us and us for him
  6. If the rumours were right, he was aware of our interest but had no intention to join us. I think we need to stick to our model which is signing young promising but relatively unproven players on low wages (e.g. Tino and Hall) and hope they develop into top players.
  7. I think Gallagher would be a great signing but realistically I don’t think he will want to join us. First, AM will also be playing in CL next season. He is currently on 150k a wk and we wouldn’t be offering much of a pay rise if any. And he as a multimillionaire is from London and currently playing in Madrid. Chances are that Newcastle won’t be an attractive enough city for him.
  8. I think Longstaff will do very well for a team fighting against relegation. His best attributes will be put to good use. He will likely thrive as one of their better players. He is worth 15m.
  9. We will see. I suspect Howe will stick with Murphy at least for the first few games in the PL.
  10. what would be a fair or fair enough price for him?
  11. My updated summer transfer wishlist: Elanga 52m (confirmed) Ekitike 70m Guehi 40m No outgoings (maybe Targett and Lascelles)
  12. I agree even 70m for Mbeumo would still be a decent deal. Man Utd with their brand prints money they can afford to overpay.
  13. Hong Kong. I have been following the team since the Bobby Robson era. I currently live in Newcastle and about to finish my Masters’
  14. I am not from Newcastle. Can someone tell me if this forum generally a good representation of local Newcastle fans or people in this city? Seems to me lots of people here are quite mean and not inclusive at all. And frankly quite negative towards local journalists
  15. Elanga scored quite a few goals with his left last season. He can go outside or inside which makes him quite unpredictable to defenders.
  16. I highly doubt DCL will come. He is looking for a lucrative contract and I think we most likely won’t be willing to pay much more than his wage at Everton which was apparently 100k/w.
  17. A lot of us will agree it would be difficult to sign a good striker who is willing to play second fiddle to Isak. So like many other teams we might have to settle with versatile players like Elanga and Gordon covering for Isak. And hopefully Osula will have a breakout season.
  18. Elanga 55m Scalvini 45m Trafford 35m Fernandes (Southampton CM) 40m 175m in total for 4 high-ceiling young players. 9/10 window?
  19. Fair arguments, especially considering only 2 years left in his contract. Hopefully someone willing to pay 25m for him and then we get someone with a higher ceiling
  20. Regarding Willock, i suspect quite a lot of us have forgotten how good he was in the 22-23 season when we finished 4th. He was consistently good and combined so well with Joelinton and also with Isak. He has great pace and ball carrying ability obviously, but also pretty decent technical ability, able to shield the ball very well in tight spaces. I know he has been struggling with fitness issues and understandably many of us want to upgrade him, but we will most likely have to shell out a fair chuck of our budget if we were to get a player of similar quality. If we do decide to replace him, hopefully we can get someone like Fernandes from Southampton.
  21. I am predicting we will get this done by overpaying sth like 55m
  22. Just checked transfermakt, he actually played 30+ games in three consecutive seasons across all competitions before last season. So while the injury history is still alarming its not quite Woodgate level
  23. On a positive note, he seems to be quite versatile, apparently also played as DM and RB last season
  24. That list of injury history does look quite alarming. Woodgate level of unavailability
