Just rewatched the winner, at 99th min we were still playing 4-3-2 with Elanga positioned quite further forward. We conceded very much due to playing 3v4. I understand Elanga's role in counter attacking using his pace but at that stage of the game with us down to 10 men he should be positioned more like a right midfielder or right back. Just before we conceded his eyes were toward Liverpool's goal and seemed very unaware of what was behind him. The defence also had the responsibility of communicating and asking him to track back.

His 2nd half performance tonight stood out so much to me, partly because he been mediocre most games in the last 12 months. Even 1st half tonight his passing was quite off. Last performance before tonight that really stood out to me was at Old Trafford in December. this 2nd half performance was refreshing to see. That was the kind of performance we used to see week in week out. Took risks but not losing the ball easily, showcasing fantastic technical ability with his feistiness and incisive passes. Hopefully we see more of that this season

I guess the main purpose of preseason is to prepare the first team squad for the upcoming season not necessarily giving young players a run out for the sake of it. If Kuol got no game time during preseason, the most likely reason is that the coaching team does not see him in their plans for the 1st team
