I didn't even realise old Mad Dog had been sent off during the commentary on Amazon, only found out about it afterwards via a story on NewsNow!

Newcastle United 4-0 Leicester City (14/12/24)
Armchair Pundit replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
Purposefully missed listening to the match today, figured it'd likely be another bag of shite, then we get a result like this... my suspicions of being a jinx are confirmed, no more shall I watch or listen to a live match! ... maybe. -
Gotta look after the pennies...

I can see us cashing in on Almiron and Tripps easy enough in January, probably why Eddie's been playing Murphy and Tino more. But, it also wouldn't surprise me if we bit the bullet and sold one of our bigger stars, like Isak or Bruno as well, just to fund beefing out the squad some more with the PSR hamstringing in place. It wouldn't be ideal, but after a fairly indifferent first half of the season I have to wonder if it would impact us as much as our hearts over minds would have us feeling.

And I think part of that, for me, is because I don't want to see Eddie fail, as much as anything else.

I actually think this is very likely, just based on league results as things are going. I really don't like saying that, it's different to previous managers over the last few years because I honestly like Eddie, he seems like a genuinely nice guy and has been really good for us. But something is definitely off right now, everything feels a bit rotten, stale, from top to bottom, and I don't think the owners will stick with it for long. The brownie points from that first season and the fact there's no excuses like their was with the injuries last season, has to be taken into account.

And I think it makes me feel more angry towards them than it used to, they just look like a bunch of lazy cunts. It's bewildering.

Certainly looks that way, like we can't be taken seriously - though that's obviously been helped by the red cartel hamstringing any progress we could make, with them being helped by the league as well.
-
I'd like to think that, but looking at them I'm not sure. I mean, I know all the players are a year or so older, probably means more to Burn or Trippier, but we just don't seem to be as clinical or cover each other anymore. We've not been the same since summer's god awful transfer window and, possibly more importantly, since Eddie was linked with the England job and Amanda/Mehrdad left. I'd hope Gordon, Isak and Bruno hadn't had their heads turned by being linked with moves away, but even that has to sit at the back of the mind. Things feel stale now, like it needs freshening up.

You have to wonder what's changed with the team, with whatever Howe's training them with. How we've slumped so much is just weird. It's not like we've had a massive change in players, but we seem to struggle now to just do the basics. I'm not sure if the players are no longer buying into Eddie's vision, whether they've fallen for their own hype or if it's something else - just seems like they're a completely different side to what they were.
