Well done, Dr Jinx. I pointed out more than once that the only time I saw him play at Hoffenheim, he was in central midfield with two strikers ahead of him, but no, I never advocated trying him there. Partly because he didn't look that great in that position in that Hoffenheim game, and partly because it didn't look to me that he would have the mobility to survive in midfield in the Premiership.

I'm still a bit mystified how he does it, to be honest. Occasionally, that lumbering footwork lands him in difficulty, but then he'll use his strength and good reading of situations to really open things up for us.

Always shown a good attitude though. Never hid or complained, and now he's getting his reward.

I kind of remember a few times where he came a bit deeper and seemed to be able to hold onto the ball and pass it which at the time none of our midfielders were capable of doing, it seemed logical to stick him in there as he wasn’t scoring goals up front.

It was the game earlier in season when he played that ball to Wilson outside of his boot, then he just looked absolutely natural there.. yet it was still a few games later, maybe the one where Clark got sent off that the penny dropped for the new coaching setup.

You also have to factor in confidence levels, since he came here he’s had zero.. badly coached and like the rest of the squad, off the pace fitness wise.

    All changed thankfully.

On the flip side I’d wager if stuck up top again, he’d do a far better job than he did the first time. He’s a totally different animal now. Absolutely one of my favourite ever players for us. Love his attitude.

Location scenes were filmed in Ireland but it was written, produced (by a London company) and all interior shots filmed in studio in London. Admittedly though, the two main writers are both Irish (whilst writing it in London). Let’s call it an Irish/UK show- it’s good wherever it comes from.

Listen, Father Ted is an Irish show that English funded.

You can however lay full claim to Mrs Browns Boys :)

  3. The biggest mistake people are making is thinking Bruce gives a shit.

He must have a very talented agent to keep getting him these massive pay days for doing absolutely fuck all.

There was a point in his managerial career when he realised he’d never be cut out for the Man Utd job and since then he’s been out to get as many redundancy cheques as he can, in some cases he actually picks up a wage for several months between them.

Rolls into the training ground at 11, if he does at all. And then inevitably when his team loses he’s got thick enough skin to stand in front of the media and blame everyone else but him.

This notion that he’s a great bloke.. he’s actually a fucking parasite with socially manipulative skills but it says more about how thick the people running most clubs are that people like him get to carry on like this.

  4. Don't see the problem. ASM has been absolutely crocked for months. Gets to 60 minutes and he's standing around hand on hips, taking ages to get back up after getting the ball taken off him.

That's not a criticism of him, the club have needed to take care of him for ages and due to our predicament, we haven't been able to do that.

His fitness levels have improved recently but 100% believe his legs are probably covered in bruises from being hacked down. He also had a bad dose of Covid the previous year. Any lung damage will put limitations on the oxygen his body can absorb which would easily explain how he hits walls in games roughly around the same point.

The other thing to note, he's not built like the average footballer, he's an absolute supercar if can use than analogy. You don't bring a Bugatti to a budget price mechanic if it needs a service.

  5. If we beat Brentford and possibly moving up to 14th that will psychologically give us an edge I think. We have momentum, as do Burnley now. The others around us are all in the horrors.. but that can change in an instant.

If we keep current form levels, I can see us picking up another 24/25 points by end of season.. that would easily be enough.

Back to Dan Ashworth, I can’t wait for this t be announced I hope his unveiling will give us more insight to plans we have in the medium - long term.

Nothing would be announced yet but i'd wager that he's doing his planning behind the scenes so that he'll hit the ground running whenever that announcement date is.

  7. I don't think Emery had any intention of leaving, he entertained some conversations and then leaked the info to make himself look loyal to his club.

It was snidey, unprofessional and also assisted by senor Ballbag who seems to have an axe to grind as far as we're concerned.

He's burnt his bridges there as far as we're concerned but I don't think he has any real intention of moving to the PL again. Arsenal wasn't a good experience for him.

Exactly what I was thinking. Like a pushover parent who pretends to tell their kid off so their partner thinks they're actually doing their job.

'Don't worry. If the media ask, I told you to buck your ideas up and its time to roll wuh sleeves up. Go have a couple of days off, you boys have earnt it. Now if you'll excuse me my kebab is being delivered any minute.'

Aye, and no wonder Alex is such a twat if that's how things went down.

  9. Aside from moving a little slower than they would have liked at some points, the new owners have barely put a foot wrong since they came in. We don't seem to be making any of the same mistakes other clubs with new money have made.

  10. Watching his post match comments, i felt a wave of anxiety for what we could still be stuck with.

Fuck every one of those cunts who gas-lit us for the time he was here. "He's a top manager" etc.. "They'll never accept him because he managed Sunderland..."

No. We were never going to accept him because he's absolute dogshit.

  11. Not worried about this one at all. If we want him we’ll make sure we bid the most. If he wants to come here it will happen.

We’ll have many options in the summer once we manage to stay up.

There's 2 things that scare me about Burnley. First is the way they turned things around last season after looking as hopeless as they have been this year. Second, they are still the same old solid, defensively strong Burnley and even the best teams struggle to beat them. If they can improve their goalscoring even a little bit then they will climb the table. I just hope the win against Brighton was just a freak result against a makeshift defence rather than a sign of things to come.

TBH it's a really interesting relegation battle all of a sudden and I think you can make a case for anyone staying up (except Norwich I reckon). Thank God we have this 4 point cushion and a bit of momentum.

That's the way i'm seeing it, no doubt Burnley are a hard team to break down but Brighton were well below par on Saturday. Just wait until Dan Burn is missing for us at some point, it won't be pretty. Can only assume they are in the same boat.

Looking at Burnley's fixtures, it's easy to imagine them getting 0 points from next 4 games, maybe a draw with Palace but that is no certainty.

Think you're both right, somehow. Leeds didn't look like scoring aside from the 2 they managed, and Man United's 4 are largely because Leeds simply don't defend properly rather than Man United being really good.

Far too easy to cut through both sides. I think we’d beat both currently.

I wouldn’t like to see Leeds go down, they’re far too much fun.

The beauty of St James is its location- it's the beating heart of the City. It's what makes it so unique  - it would not be the same if it was moved to the outskirts imo.  There are a lot of clever engineers in this world and am sure a solution can be found to expand in its current location.

The Arena site found hardly be called the outskirts ?

  15. Oh Eddie definitely has a ruthless streak. And certainly isn’t a pushover either, not throwing Bruno in straight away is a perfect example.. spending 40 million on a player must be a huge pressure in terms of team selection.

  16. I like the idea of the arena site and whether they have planning permission to do something, they haven’t started it and there’s probably loads of reasons why they haven’t.

If PIF wanted to they could assist building of a new venue for them. Money talks at the end of the day.

The point is, rebuilding all or even part of SJP is highly complicated. Why go through all that when there’s other better options.
