To be fair, if he’d taken Harry Potter out when he had chance then we’d all have forgiven him for kicking a few of our players tonight.

The ref set the tone for the game in the first 5 minutes. Two blatant yellow cards that went unpunished for pretty poor tackles. I can’t comment on the VAR decision as I obviously don’t understand the rules of football anymore.

Might come under fire for this but he’s got this annoying trait of not lifting his head sometimes. At times he passes or shoots without looking up. Fair play though, he works his arse off and I’m delighted he’s finding the net.

I’ve got to be honest and I’d been slightly underwhelmed until the last couple of games. Hands up and admit I was wrong. Thought he was fantastic tonight and really excited about what he’ll bring in the next few seasons.

Definitely not saying he’s a legend mate. Didn’t particularly like his antics or interview tonight either. But he was an important player for us for years and it would be churlish to deny that.

Separated from Ian Dowie and the bloke from Goonies at birth,

Thought he was lucky to be on the pitch at the end. Still gave years to the club and should get a proper reception next time he’s at St. James’. Wish him well.

Really thrilled with the comeback. Thought we dominated and deserved to win. I have to say though, I’ve never felt so disenchanted with the rules of the game. Played myself for years and not sure I understand the rules as they stand. VAR adds nothing to the game for me.

Not at the races here. Passing looks awful and no fluency so far.

But his brother Muller is best.

Perspective. Been a massive week getting to the cup final and another point in the bank. We looked flat and leggy at times but not really surprising. Gordon looks sharp and should add options up front. Good test away at Bournemouth next so nothing to worry about in this performance.

Can’t remember who it was that came on in the city v Liverpool game in the week but it was their first appearance since the community shield after a thigh injury. Sounds like the same sort of timeframe.
