Fair fucking play to this guy!
-
-
Seen his videos a few times, wish I had as much time on my hands as he does. Mind you, even if I did I’d make better use of it.
-
Agree with what’s been said, definitely an 8 and not a 6.
what’s also not ideal is that he needs time to settle and form links with team mates but keeps being moved around. Last week it was left of midfield, then as a 6, now back to the right.
feel like he needs a solid run in one position to really kick on.
-
Massively impressed with him (and Dummett) last night.
Lascelles in particular played some really nice passes into midfield, including for the goal.
Fair play to them for improving but also hats off to Eddie because just through training he has got everyone in the squad comfortable and competent on the ball.
-
Nice goal but the defending for that goal in particular was some of the worst I’ve ever seen at this level, embarrassingly bad.
-
Buzzing for him to get a goal

change them when the players performances drop off or they show signs of fatigue. Not when they’ve just done a sterling job of keeping Milan out at the San Siro.
pretty standard stuff.
Why would you wait until they are fatigued to rest them? Surely resting them is to prevent fatigue and to ensure they are constantly fresh

Wasn’t it reported that part of the hold up with Bruno’s new deal was he wanted to play further forward?
so maybe next summer we sign an out and out 6, and Bruno and Tonali are the first choice 8’s?
-
I’d go full strength for this one, and then against city go with:
Pope
Livramento
Lascelles
Murphy/Burn
Hall
miley
anderson
joelinton if fit
murphy
wilson
barnes
if joelinton isn’t fit, move targett to LB and Hall to midfield

I think City Arsenal top 2.
then Liverpool, us, Man U, Spurs, Brighton fighting for likely the 3 remaining CL spots.
I think we’ve got a good chance, depending on cup runs and injuries.
-
It’s more of a quality issue than a tactical issue, and I mean quality in terms of the personnel.
-
Longstaff should have hit that instead of looking for a pen!

Wat?
Aye, few murmurings on Twitter - hopefully it’s wrong but they’ve been right before.
If it is true I can only assume we have some injuries, he is surely 4th choice winger
-
Apparently Jacob Murphy starting tonight. Would not have expected that

Can't believe simply going to watch a match can be so toxic. People have got slashed up already?
Is this just standard fare over there or is this because they are expecting the worst from English fans and so are being more aggressive?
Personally I wouldn’t go to Italy for a game, their reputation is awful.
I wouldnt have the same concerns going to Paris or dortmund, but I’d still have my wits about me and would probably avoid wearing a toon top.
-
Charlie mcarthur is a new owner signing, but no Alex Murphy for some reason?
also that miley is 47, is that Jamie? Lewis isn’t 19 years old and is 67 I believe, apparently he’s with the senior squad tonight
-
Re the pressing we are going to have a lot of 3/4 day turnarounds so it could be intentional to reduce the amount per game

Any suggestions on a lively place I could take the bairn to watch it?
Debating shearers as I haven't got a clue where else I can take her, don't fancy just sitting in the hoose.
Wonderbar?

interview with Gordon from todays programme.
talked about the dummy spit at Brentford last season:
One notable misstep came in United's win at Brentford in April, when his petulant reaction to being replaced late on - having only come on as a substitute himself at half time - brought headlines. It must be strange to have the mistakes he says he learns so much from play out in a very public domain. "Yeah, but I think also sometimes I haven't helped myself, that moment being one. That's probably the worst moment of my footballing career, to be fair. I am quite emotional with football, and I think that's a positive, but there's certain situations where you've just got to handle them in the correct way and I definitely didn't in that moment.
"But it was another opportunity to learn for me. I'm still a young lad and I'm going to make mistakes. I wasn't too worried about what people thought of me. I sort of accepted it was a mistake and spoke to the manager, apologised, and he was excellent throughout that process. Our relationship is as good as it's ever been right now, probably because of those things - we've been through those experiences to where we are now."

Not featuring for the U21’s tonight, is he injured?

Indeed. Seems completely implausible unless he got a helicopter back.
This was the Sunday night apparently, article said Howe gave them 2 days off post City
-
To be fair to him, everyone is saying he is bad with the ball at his feet and that was true when we last saw him play regularly, under Bruce.
it’s not inconceivable to imagine this area of his game has improved after nearly 2 years of Howe. He played a brilliant ‘schar’ ball to Gordon in the pre season friendly against Villa.
-
Yeah it was a terrible decision, would expect it to be overturned
