  1. I was looking for the 3 hands and 6 feet as the dead giveaway

    In memoriam

Fantastic footballer and a legend of the game. RIP Bobby
  3. I think the Italian FA will be harder on him than the English FA were on Toney (who bet on his own team). I think it will be somewhere between 10-12 months, after you subtract any reduction for pleading guilty.

    England

Yep, but playing a much different and more restricted role for England. Doesn't seem to want to get up the pitch.

How rashford still gets a game I don't know... Surely Grealish, Gordon etc are better options..

    England

You're correct but wrong at the same time Right that playing the ball doesn't come into it, but attempting to play it actually does..

Not a red, under DOGSO (Law 12) Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.), the offending player must be sent off. Where a player denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by a handball offence, the player is sent off wherever the offence occurs (except a goalkeeper within their penalty area).

  9. It could be a quiet January (unless we have serious injuries and/or need), looking ahead to the summer. I think we will agree an extension for Schar, but Lascelles, Krafth, Manquillo, Karius, Ritchie, Dummett and Gillespie will all probably leave when their contracts expire. Ritchie will probably become a coach. I think Targett may be sold or loaned out, too. That gives us: Pope; New GK; Dubravka Trippier; Livramento New CB; Botman; Schar; Burn New LB; Hall Tonali; Bruno; Willock; Joelinton; Longstaff New RM; Almiron; Murphy Gordon; Barnes; Anderson Isak; Wilson The final spot will either be another CM or CF (depending on how Wilson/Isak go this season). EDIT: this could be minteh if he's ready That would give us a minimum of 9 homegrown players too, so no issue with that.
  10. Agree. But in fairness, Paqueta should have walked too. One for the yellow he got, and he threw the ball miles away after a decision went against him, about 30 seconds in. By the letter of the law, he should have already been on one.
  11. He strikes me as the shy, introverted type. From his press conferences and body language on NUFC videos. Moving from Italy to Newcastle must be a huge culture shock in itself, let alone for someone who is more reserved. Then, factor in his lack of English, which is probably made worse by living in an area that's got a heavier accent and more colloquial language. Then, as most have pointed out, he's playing in a different set up, in a different position, in a vastly different league. Rather than berate him, give up on him or dismiss him as being sub-par, I'd like to see our fan base go the other way. I'd love to see a big Wor Flags effort for when Milan come over here. Show him that we are behind him and that he's now one of ours...!!
  12. I love Bruno. His name and number on my last shirt, but by God he cannot control his emotions. League cup semi final off. 1st game after a new contract, should be off. So many times in big games he's walked the tight rope, too.
  13. Great performance and very happy that he got the opportunity to lead Newcastle out on a night like that. Well deserved. A proper club player. Never complained once (not least in the public eye) and hasn't put a foot wrong when called upon.
  14. Oh wow. So happy for the city, the fans, the people on this forum, the players and the coaching staff. Over the moon for Longstaff and Burn. As an "adopted Geordie", coming to the city of Newcastle since the age of 5 and loving this football club more than anything, I can't even imagine the pride you would feel scoring a goal for your home club on a night like this, in front of your family. Can't work in the morning like. I'm in bits. Tonight the realisation PROPERLY set in that I truly have MY club back. Tonight was a fairy tale. It took me back to 2002, when I was a 11-12 year old lad. To the club I adore, to the heroes I cherish and to a time I'm so fond of. A magical night. We've truly awoken the giant.
  15. Appreciate all that's been said and happy he's signing a new deal but if we lose Bruno for anything less than Rice (£105m), or Caicedo (£115m) we've been had (especially when you consider annual inflation)
  16. I wonder how lot it is before we are linked with Sancho from Man Utd?

    Paul Dummett

Think he will get another go soon. Eddie will reward him, Livramento and Lascelles.
  18. Love the fact he stopped to shake Howe's hand, after Tindall. Howe was giving instructions to those on the pitch and he waited. Proper team player who's trying his best to adjust to the English game.
  19. Most importantly, the result keeps the February Newcastle Online piss up on for another few weeks...!!

    Paul Dummett

Played well. A good interception and a great last ditch tackle. Clean sheet against City with Lascelles and Dummett at CB. I'll wake up soon
  21. Tactically spot on tonight. Held it to 0-0 when he knew neither team would go gung-ho in the first 45, then beat Pep to the punch by bringing on Gordon and Bruno at HT. Pep didn't know what to do, or how to change it. Think he got one over Pep tonight
