Appreciate that mate. I don't think he's worth £25m and I'm certainly not arguing for that. Anderson isn't worth anywhere near £35m either to be fair... (Although he's more worth 35m than this lad is 25m, I concede..) My point is, if Chelsea can sell hotels to themselves to work around PSR/FFP then this is our equivalent. We're basically sticking two fingers up to the whole thing. The only reason we're spending 25m on him is because they're spending 35m on Anderson. Neither deal, in isolation, is value for money or would be pursued by either club.

I'd be in this boat, but he's probably going on to be on 3x more wages than Karius, and realistically earning the same as Dubs... The fee of £15-25m I couldn't care less, so long as Anderson goes the other way for 35 and we don't have to sell a purple
-
Allegedly 45k compared to Dubravkas 40k
-
Aye, but as I understand it, if we're only paying him a modest wage (maybe replacing Dubravka), then the 25m is really here nor there. We're getting 10m for Anderson plus lots of wiggle room with FFP
-
So we sell Anderson at 35M (value 15M) Buy Vlachodimos at 25M (value 5M) We technically sell Anderson for 10M.... But Anderson gets us +35M this seasons accounts and Vlach is pushed over 3-4 seasons.... (6-7M a year) Just creative accounting right?

We didn't concede many chances (or goals) in the group stage and our back line has looked pretty solid despite it being, on paper, the worst area for us Positives.... I'm reaching...

Janza needs a kick in the bollocks, not the calf

Saka and Foden wanted bringing off for Palmer and Gordon. I'd have left Mainoo off when subbing off Gallagher and brought Foden into 10

My ratings: Pickford 7 Walker 6 Stones 6 Guehi 7 Trippier 6 Alexander-Arnold 5 Rice 7 Bellingham 9 Saka 8 Foden 4 Kane 5.5 Gallagher 6.5 Bowen 6 Mainoo N/A Thought Foden and TAA were shoehorned into positions they shouldn't be playing in.

To match his little boy arms

Scouse going crazy that TAA was singing the anthem

Think from a FFP perspective, we'd written some of their costs off early too? Or am I imagining things?

He's absolutely class. Can't believe there are people questioning that he's anything but the right guy for us to build a long term project. Imagine the ego of a Mourinho disrupting what we are building here. I think a lot can be said for how he's handled the man management aspect of our transformation. Can't be easy managing a squad of players knowing that there's going to be steep and continuous investment. Players like Almiron, Schar, Longstaff, Wilson who could have had their starting place under real threat have responded brilliantly to his style.
-
Can see him coming back to SJP in some capacity if Eddie Howe remains as a coach (maybe u18s/21s etc). Clearly he's thought of as a great professional and role model.
-
Happy for him. Most would say that Paul Dummett has not been good enough to represent Newcastle for a long time (if ever) - from a quality and technique standpoint. I'd 100% agree. But I would say that it is always nice to hear someone living out their dreams (especially at their boyhood club, ala him, longstaff, burn). That smile on his debut is the realisation of his dreams coming true. I'll never begrudge anyone of following and realising their dream. Its hard to criticise him (short match day rants aside) and look back negatively on his time here. Clearly out of their depth, but often giving it his all. Never disputed his commitment. When all is said, we should not really blame him for the standard being so poor under Ashley, for so long.

Since when did we start aiming for "welcoming"?

Out of curiosity, is it Saturday night it gets full? If so, I couldn't say (as I'm never there over the weekend). I've stayed over on a Friday night once and it was dead, but again, it was late September...
-
They have one of these right next to where I work (once a month) in Croydon. Its absolutely shit... And no one goes in. Surprised its still open. Ours might cater to a different audience, given it's right next to SJP and it could do well on match day for that reason alone. But as a standalone place, it's not great... Edit: Appreciate it is temporary...

Lots of potential with Trafford but he's very lightweight. If we get him on the right training regime he could be a fantastic number 1 in 2-3 years. Good shot stopper. See him as a solid back up to Pope. I don't think the move would unnerve Pope, but it'd certainly provide competition and be a decent succession plan. Edit: largely depends on price. £20m a bit steep IMO. 14-16M more like it

We could end up selling Trippier, Almiron and Wilson if decent bids come in. Trippier only if he does want out. Incomings: GK CB Versatile Full Back (Left & Right) Winger CF Top 5 and good progress in either Europe or FA cup, please!

I appreciate that money is tight for a lot of people and don't want this to come across as insensitive But, personally, I'd rather pay £100 at JD than £60 at Shite Direct.
-
Great save Dubravka, regardless of offside call. He didn't know.
-
Loving the story he shared about how Eddie Howe is absolutely relentless in all aspects but particularly training, and how he found it hard to settle at the start because of EHs expectation for everyone to succeed and deliver EDIT: "When we win a trophy at Newcastle....! (not if)

That's absolutely embarrassing for football
