James Trafford: NUFC in talks with Burnley over £30m transfer (Various)
ToonAbroad replied to 54's topic in Football
"It is hoped that a compromise will eventually be reached with Trafford still keen on the move, but it could be a transfer that drags on into the summer." Good stuff... -
Plus the small NUFC crest from 1983-88 in orange and purple on the back for what it's worth. Away kit has the even earlier crest on the back which looks pretty good tbh.
-
No trim, pretty much just plain purple but with orange sponsor and Adidas logo.

Leeds interested according to The Athletic. https://twitter.com/TheAthleticFC/status/1932544870582730852?t=9Qe22napdEA6_xcNFMxN3Q&s=19

And would also dent us in the homegrown stakes. Just way too valuable in all senses to let go.

Paul Mitchell to leave club by mutual consent at end of June (Official)

Oh without a shadow of a doubt and for a variety of reasons - to protect relationships, to avoid potential libel or where they won't have 100% proof or evidence. I've heard so many stories over the years on people within football that I would never dare put onto a public forum, let alone in the press. -

I've been thinking about this. Suppose the journos did know how bad Mitchell was in terms of internal reputation and his approach to the role - how would we have reacted if they pummelled him and these stories came out while the season was ongoing or whilst he was still in the role? We'd probably all be fuming at the disruption it would have caused, so I can see some argument for keeping certain things out of the public domain until his notice had been handed in. -
Aha thanks! That passed me by completely.

What on earth is a purple and where did this phrase come from... Seen it here used loads.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6387324/2025/05/28/paul-mitchell-newcastle-exit-inside-story/ Good read - essentially links it to Eales and nothing more than that. -
I don't believe we're incompentent but I also don't believe Palace were particularly easy to deal with given what we saw last summer. It takes many parties to seal a deal.
-
Do you reckon we thought the same last summer?
-
Tbf the article does mention how Mitchell is working for 4 more weeks and wants to secure at least 1 major signing before he goes.
-
Withdrawn from the Sweden squad - good news to rest that groin up!

Hope confirming that he expects Bunce to stay. Maybe good for the long-term, but doesn't half throw the summer transfer window into a bit of a mess (unless this has been secretly agreed for weeks).
